Not only is CrossCode my favorite game of 2018, but it's not even close. I still remember last year with Hollow Knight being my favorite game of 2017, I was perplexed to see it fly under so many radars. The Switch release changed everything and with CrossCode set to release on Nintendo's console as well, I hope it gets the same huge boost of attention it deserves. CrossCode takes the best parts of Secret of Mana, Zelda, Lufia II and Wild Arms dungeons, then mixes that with awesome fast paced combat inside a MMORPG setting. The result is nothing short of incredible. Even outside traversal is filled with parkour puzzles to reach the various chests and it's so much fun that I wanted to get all of them (made pleasant by a chests counter in each area). The soundtrack and the pixel graphics feel simply perfect. Even the story is intriguing and full of likable characters, including great humor. Really, I have a hard time finding negatives for this one and I still think about the game which I will surely return to as they release more quests and expansions (just like a MMORPG). I don't say this easily, but to me CrossCode is nothing short of a masterpiece and just like with Hollow Knight before it, my favorite game of the year is now one of my favorites of all time.

Got this on PC a couple of weeks before it was announced on Switch, now I'm just going to wait for that release and double dip.

I am very impatient to play this game on my Switch, since I heard about it for the first time during the "Nindies" in January. Besides, it is an opportunity for me to play again in German language (since I can speak this language). :-)

it also had one of if not THE best early access development cycle I've ever seen for a video game. the dev were always open with everything, every delay was explained and we had a clear and concise roadmap to follow until release with monthly updates that were always on point. I cannot state how refreshing that was. this game and slay the spire(another great game that had a great early access) are both shining examples of what an early access dev cycle should be.

Well, just played 50h on this game, and i can't find it more than "meh", i really enjoyed the first half, and felt kinda annoyed all along the second half... and really, i didn't expect to see a track of ths game on your channel : having played video games for 25 years now and it's one of the few game for which i cut off the music to play another's game soundtrack. even this track, autumn's fall, maybe one of the best track of this game, is really not that great :it becomes annoying really fast, considering the time you spend on each section of the game. even my girlfriend doing something else beside me on the same room told me it was one of the most annoying soundtrack she heard EVER, and i kinda agree with here, having played a shitloads of games with absolutely brillant soundtrack. And beside that : a bestiary of 20 differents monsters throught the game, a plot which is ... well, decent at best, the level design has problems i cant' explain well as a non-native english speaker (it's frequently difficult to see on which height you can or will land when jumping, and it's REALLY annoying a lots of time during the game)... In fact, the problem with crosscode is that it has a lot of very good idea, and a lot of really annoying ones. GOTY 2018 ? certainly not. it's at least way too long for it's own good, for what it has to offer. Maybe i'm just following the hype train, but Celeste seems so far ahead as a goty material.

Trust me that game really worth it. I'm also ashamed to have paid so few to get that much with that game. Ofc that game has also some bad sides but the good ones overcome them and by far. That game has also some Alundra vibes with his dungeon, really great to see that today. It's a really great experience, trust me, get it and you won't regret it.

I played it within a week of launch... friend knew about it and recommended it. An instant love affair. Great story concept, great setting, great mechanics. Rewarding grinding with ever increasing timers and countdowns to grind as fast as possible to get better shit. Just a fun af experience, grinding, in cross code

Playi8ng through it for the first time as I type actually. The game is amazing so far and the music doesn't dissapoint. It really does remind me of an amalgamation of my favorite retro RPGs, with modern mechanics. I've even already begun to theorize on where the story is going.

I've never heard of this game, but after seeing how much you like it, I guess I'll be giving it a shot when it comes to the Switch. 2018 wasn't nearly as good as 2017 for me, so learning about some hidden gems is always nice.

My favorite song isn't actually in the full release anymore; it was the demo/beta title screen. The demo blew me away back then... and as weird as it sounds, I'm a little too intimidated to start the real deal.

Nah not weird, I've had that with games before. Knowing 100% your gonna be all-in with a game from start to finish because it's just gonna be that good, can seem a bit daunting knowing the time commitment.

The fact that no one is talking about this game even after it's been out for like almost a year is just perplexing. This was an easy goty for me last year and it was just sad that nobody has even heard of it. No big or small youtubers made any videos on it and in general it lacked the attention it deserved. The ONLY negative part I can think of about this game is that it's almost a bit too perfect -- there aren't much things left to talk about after you finish the game because everything is wrapped up so nice n' tight. And that's hardly a negative point. Hopefully the Switch port will set this right and the folks at RadicalFishGames will get the money and fame they need to get their next, undoubtedly great project started with a bang!

About the only problem I've had personally with the game so far is that some of the writing for the dialog is a cheesy or just makes me sigh and shake my head now & then. Not often, but once in a while. Like the uh..."southern accent" they were trying to go for for that one npc who gives you that plant quest. But really, that's nowhere near enough to put a blemish on the rest of the game, which is too much fun.
