The violin solo reminds me of this Norwegian guy, Pete Johansen. He played in a few gothic metal bands (The Sins of Thy Beloved, Tristania) and had a similar sound, from my recollection.

shadow hearts covenant is my 2nd fave game on the ps2 only behind xenosaga episode 3 my fave game of all time
+ho2da Man, I chill reading comments like yours because this should be quoted for the most truth. Okay, I'd not put Shadow Hearts 2 in the second place. Xenosaga 3 is faaaaaar the best game avaliable in the ps2 menu. My 2nd is Tales of the Abyss and, 3rd to Romacing Saga, 4th to FFX. I place SoH: Covenant behind SoH: From the New World still because of all the gameplay aspects, especially when it comes to the enormous improvements FtNW brought to the battle system (albeit the storyline of SoH 1 and 2 are far superior, I like the plot of FtNW too).
I though SH FtNW was terrible easily one of the worst ps2 games I've ever played in my opinion
+ho2da most people do share your opinion. I understand it because the plot is really inferior to its prequels. As I said, I personally like it. But what really makes me a fan of FtNW is the fact that I consider SoH the best JRpg Series when talking about gameplay aspects. And in addition to that FtNW was most perfect. The dungeons puzzles (I remember my Vilcabamba's genial puzzle up to nowsaday), the improvents to battle (stock bars, double combos) plus the fact that it is much more challenging, for Joachim is absurdly overpowred in Covenant.
Yeh I agree with Joachim being to powerful. Another gameplay aspect they dropped the ball in covenant was yuri's monster acquisition. I liked the y way he got monster in the first shadow hearts game way better, and also in addition to Joachim being overpowered yuris lvl 3 fire fusion with energy charge you could kill most bosses in one round if you had a mind's eye equipped, but that's y I never used him.

I love how this one single track almost wholly embodies everything that Shadow Hearts stood for: one man struggling for his place in redemption against all odds, knowing that there's no time left. Beautiful!

this is my favorite game of all time and i am trying to figure out the music by ear and it is very difficult but the entire shadow hearts series was good all three of them and they all have good music i wish i could find tabs somewhere

This song reminds me of Kokoro from Xenosaga with the beats coming in at 2:00.. Very nice.

@Yue268 i've just won the SH2, wich is the best one, SH3 is really good, but not as good as the 2. characters are nice, fights are awesome, funny scenes, really great, but SH2 is just perfect.

The song and cutscene fit together perfectly. Especially when the song picks up while Kato summons the Ark of Yamato.
Best game and best soundtrack EVER!
Now this is beautiful. I actually felt sorry for Kato here, he was a great example of an anti-villain. I never would've imagined that he would end up the main villain in the second game, let alone reappear from the first game.

by far the best rpg IMO. when i finished the game i was sad and i could have cried if i wanted... too bad there is no 3rd game with the same story :( and this theme perfectly represents the sadness i felt at certain moments in the game. it's really touching

What a great song for a great game it's defintely the best in the serias and MUCH better then the third one..... hu, hearing those songs make me wanna go back to those days I first played those games
I've played Shadow Hearts 1 and 2. Really surprised at the quality of those games. Yuri rules! I heard Mitsuda composed a couple of songs from those game, my favorite being ALICE! This one is really nice, and I remember that song playing.
