This is beautiful. The calm start has a sense of tranquility and sorrow to it but then the song starts to change its tone at 1:06, suddenly becoming more intense and building up. It's as if the sorrow has turned into anger and becomes a slow descent to madness. And at the peak of intensity, it suddenly changes its tone again at 1:35. This time it's not as intense as the previous part but not as mellow yet similar to the first part as well. It's like a sense of hope and strong spirit counteracted the descent to madness but the sorrow is still there. This should be theme of Soma Cruz. It describes his fate almost perfectly.
The Pinnacle from same game did the same thing too

personally SOTN was the best, castevania 4 for snes 2nd, and then I dont know. This song though is very good, and so is this game just too short
0:40-1:05 sounds a bit like the gravity falls theme.

I beat this game on my ds lite! it was my first game for the ds and first castlevania experience.
Hah thats funny it was mine 2, after that i really got hooked and tried Symphony of the Night and Metroid after that :)
am i the only one who thinks lords of shadow fucked everything up??? i wish i would've saved this or portrait of ruin or order of ecclesia instead of getting them all day one because i miss it so much. i thought they would keep making these forever. they're so good!

Yeah, when I hear this it reminds me of all the time I spent playing this game... and especially how in this area I would often just stop, pause the game, and listen.
Sweet, it's been long enough to call the music nostalgic and making me want to play this again :D
The beginning is pure awesomness (00:00 - 01:05) but i don't like it no more at 01:06.
those are the best games. i would leave my nintendo on at some stages just to listen to the music ! Lol
It Was Really good... but personally i think the best castlevania music is that of Symphony Of the Night.

I did the same. Played SoTN later on Xbox Live Arcade. They are very close in terms of which is a better game and a better soundtrack. First Metroidvania you enjoyed, huh? Have you played Metroid Prime or Super Metroid? Those are by far the best of the bunch.
Castlevania is like Megaman in that it always has aesome music. ^_^
That's a much better way of looking at it. I guess DoS just kind of sticks out for me since it was the first metroidvania I actually really, really enjoyed. I played SoTN afterward (Yes, yes, blasphemy I know.)
Really? i liked Bloodlines, Judgment, SoTN and OoE better but hey this is also very well done. NO WAIT! All Castlevania music are AWSOME *double thumbs up sign*
Dawn of Sorrow, in my opinion, had the best castlevania music.

It's no symphony of the night but yeah it comes from a long line of good tunes.
It took me about 3 hours to beat... My total play time? About 2 days. It certainly deserves the title of Konami's Best. (so far)

It's definitely worth it. I bought it myself three weeks ago after trading in a bunch of PS2 games, and it's quite a keeper.
I've always loved this one :) That one in the lab early on and the underground song near the end are also my faves.
It's definitely a great game! I can't wait for OoE on the DS now. :P
