I was a big fan of the first game and I somehow never found the time to play DSII. I definitely will at some point. They brought back Cris Velasco who composed for the first game and while it seems like a pretty safe soundtrack, Ulthane's theme stood out. It's nice to know that this character is back as he was in the first game as well. The critics really panned this game, but after reading impressions from the players I have a feeling this is actually not a bad game at all. Was this one of those games that undeservedly got bad reviews, or is truly sub-average?
I suggest you play dsII, is a really good game with an amazing soundtrack!
it's definitely not a bad game by any means, it's more of a metroidvania than a zelda/hack-n-slash this time around though
I'd recommend DSIII, and DSII also! The second game has music by Jesper Kyd, and most of the tracks are absolutely superb.
I haven't gotten the game myself and I probably won't be buying DSIII either tbh. All of the reviews say it's nothing like the 1st or 2nd game; lacking in weapons, customization talents and most importantly the puzzle aspect. And from what I've seen of it myself it looks like they tried way too hard to be like Dark Souls and strayed way too far from how the first two games were designed, which is really disappointing to me personally.

Am playing DSIII it right now, as far as i can tell, the soundtrack is really gooooood, also at the begining of the game, maybe the first half i not that existing, but the second half god daaaamn shit gets good, play it!!!
I wouldn't trust so-called game critics. Alice Madness Returns, Splatterhouse, and Nier were panned by critics but ended up being nowhere as bad as they claimed. I know Darksiders III is another one of those.
Had to finish it for a review, and while it doesn’t break any grounds, it still does what it sets out to do fairly well. Still, you can feel playing it that they had to work on a really tight budget, hence the more compact feel of everything, but that was actually a plus for me, so... Yeah, it felt like those mid-tier PS2 games you’d get on the cheap to have a harmless fun time.
Wasn't hyped for this game at all (played the first 2) - but this song is amazing. Legit makes me want to play DS3
