Charming and calming theme from the black sheep of the DK series. I wonder if Nintendo would ever dare green light a new 3D Donkey Kong game. Retro made two amazing titles in DKCR and Tropical Freeze... I wonder what they could do with the franchise in 3D with a Metroid Prime-like open world. Yeah... that's never happening.

It was great that the composer brought this back for the Mario and Rabbids DLC. I wonder if it was his idea?

Fun fact: This was based heavily on an unused track from Banjo-Kazooie.

@conchudo12345 Some complaints I've heard is "It's just another Mario 64", "there are too many collectibles", things like that.

Even though it's kind of fashionable to hate on DK64 these days, I still love it. Would really like to see another take on a 3D DK game.

It’s easy to forget that DK64 was universally loved when it came out, and won numerous Game of the Year honors. Some games just don’t age well.

I think it did age well, but the memes of "oh my gosh so many things to collect" created an outlook for newcomers to dismiss it as a chore when it never felt that way playing and beating it.

I hated it right from its launch when I bought it...but back then basically any "big" game on N64 would get hyped and everybody would praise it no matter how good it really turned out to be.

Still prefer DK 64 over Banjo-Kazooie: this Kong game is maybe a gameplay-style clone of Bear and Bird, still it have is unique features and that ape charm .

Man i have spent hours playing this as a kid.. Crystal Cavern was by far my favourite world Childhood please come back. :(

Never understood the hate for this game. I had a blast playing this as a kid. Got it for Christmas and played through the whole game within the next two weeks non stop. It was basically my Banjo Kazooie.

I got this not realizing it would let me play majors mask. But I feel in love with this game. The music and the gameplay. I miss the good ole days when I was kid. Thanks mom for buying me this, I even got 101%

Never say never. We got a 3D Mario game that managed to exceed Sunshine and 64 in terms of scale and quality, so maybe Nintendo will have someone make that new 3D Donkey Kong as well.
