Since I haven't played this one yet, I'm interested to know what are you guys' thoughts on it? How does it stack up to 3 and 4? I feel like I could listen to this song in the background inside a coffee shop during a rainy day.
My first time playing a Persona game and it's incredible. The soundtrack is excellent and the battle system is fast paced. I don't know how well it stacks up to the other games but it's certainly a great game.
Soundtrack best in the Megaten franchise but the story sadly doesn't hold up compared to previous Persona games, especially in the character writing department

Its gameplay is definitely an improvement, compared to 3 and 4. Atlus put a lot of effort in the dungeons and in the overall gameplay, to make sure it won't get boring. Also, it's extremely stylized, you can see where the developers used all their time working on it. If I have to complain, then it would be its writing. Its story is not that well written. Like, it talks about sexual harrassment in the game, but later on it doesnt mind sexualizing certain characters. Also, it has 3 LGBT characters in the game, and 2 of them are insulting stereotypes. They arent for long there, and used for cheap jokes, but as a member of the LGBT community, I really had to roll with my eyes there. Otherwise, it's a pretty fine game. Personally, I prefer P3's story & atmosphere(P3 is my fav Persona), but it is a lot of fun and you dont make anything wrong, by buying and playing P5. Just make sure, you dont get spoiled, bc there are a few twists, which improve the game, by not seeing them coming.
Length-wise it is bigger. The characters are all very good, but lack a bit of involvement/development outside of their respective personal stories. Gameplaywise it has both beat.
Glad atlus finally made a p5 and are making a smt 4 they have been milking p3 and 4 for way too long They milked those two games harder than inteligent systems milked awakening and fates

Gameplay takes the best aspects from 3 and 4 to create arguably the best combat experience in the series. However story and characterwise it becomes apparent about halfway through that ATLUS did cut a few corners to the detriment of the game itself. However, with that being said, it was still a fun and memorable experience, enough to put in multiple playthroughs imo if you feel inclined to do so.
SupraDarky i dont want to exaggerate but it is imo best game 2017. The presentation, the story, the musicđ, the art style... I just dont know how to describe it. Its a game I,ll come back to even after decades have pasted thats for sure
Mechanically and technically, its the best SMT and Persona has ever been. The art design and theming and how the UI blends all of it is honestly the up there as some of the best in the whole games medium. As far as characters and story, I think its different enough in what the story is trying to do from 3 and 4 that they aren't really comparable (much like 3 and 4 really aren't comparable as far as story, 3 is probably the best jRPG high school story ever told while 4 is the game that does the best job of having a mystery that you piece together yourself), but I like it a lot and consider it probably the 3rd best story of games in 2017. The characters I think are better than 3, and some are better than the characters of 4. This has the best social links though especially in how they all tie in again to the central theme of being someone society looks down upon.
It's really good, I played Persona 3 and 4 A LOT so you are doing much of the same stuff. Some of the phone conversation can get a little tedious but it never really bothered me. It's definitely worth playing though they could have made the introduction shorter, it's more interactive than Persona 4's but it takes way longer to really open up. Final Grade uhh 8.8/10? I dunno what I'd rate it but I enjoyed it.
The character writing is by Far the absolute weakest of the series (besides Persona 1, at least. never played that one), in my opinion, and it has some serious pacing issues, but it has the best gameplay, best soundtrack, best graphic design (obv), best premise, and overall was still worth it to play. That's just how I feel, though,,

This is the first Persona game I've ever played. The series never interested me before tbh. My bro got it on sale so I gave it a try. I loved it haha.

SupraDarky it is super flashy, visually stunning and bigger than previous entries. But it's the easiest one since you gain access to OP items and skills too early in the game. Other than that it's a highly recommend game.
I had an absolute blast playing it. You can be happy that your first play through is still ahead of you!
SupraDarky Like with any work of art, it's important to consider cultural standpoints when comparing same series games over time. Especially with a Japan-made game that has managed to make it to #5 with many variations of #3 and #4. And over 4 generations of consoles! Or 3 if you discard ps3 which I think is not unfair. Yes there is character sexualization but I think that's necessary. Japanese people aren't having as many kids as they should. The men AND women don't care about sex. It's almost as if the developer is trying to get locals to open up to each other. Just look at recent Japanese anime coming out and compare it to something like Lupin the Third. And it just so happens the West likes that shit to begin with, which sells. The track itself is very soothing. I listened to it heavily when the game came out. I'm glad it made your list. More than anything, I'm glad the list is still going on. Keep it up, dude. Atlus need all the support they get... The older the game franchise gets, the harder it becomes to retain older clientele while making sure newer ones don't jump ship. That is why Half Life 3 will never be confirmed. The first 2 could have been made over 4 games, excluding different episodes. But Gabe Newell would have it no other way. :J
Better cast than 3, better story than 4, better gameplay than both.
SupraDarky I went in with my mind already made up that nothing can top P4. Boy was I wrong. I connected with the game and characters in a much stronger way than 3 and 4. Kudos to the developers for improving on an already great game series.
SupraDarky without a doubt the most fun youâll have with a Persona game. The mix between Palace dungeons and Tartarus-esque Mementos makes for good variety. The way theyâve designed battles in this game makes this turn based RPG feel like a goddamn action game. And style is 100% on point, this game is pretty as shit. Compared to 3 & 4, Iâd say its story pacing is much better than 3âs but doesnât get as good as 4. The bad guy of the story (the human one, not the god like the others) is without a doubt the worst in the series, they really stink. But it makes up for it with the final dungeon and boss. The game ends pretty okay. Social links/Confidants are without a doubt the best part. Past Persona gams have been hit or miss with their âoutside the main castâ characters, but P5 nails each one, to the point some of their confidants are better than the main partyâs. Overall? Persona 4 will always be my favorite, but goddamn is P5 pretty heckinâ good.
P3's dungeon is monotone with good IRL, P4's dungeon have more variant and below average IRL emphasis, P5's dungeon is better than P4 and better IRL than P3
I definitely think p5 is up there with p4 as one of the best jrpgs ever. It takes everything 4 did perfectly and added enough new things to combat and social life that it feels fantastic. Biggest highlight is the dungeon design, every dungeon is unique and creative, and it adds so much to exploring dungeons, definitely a new high point in jrpgs. Story is nice though I liked overall the story of p4 better, still a great story with some nice twists! (p4 had better twists) And the music.... My god p5's soundtrack wins overall though p4 and p3 definitely have many beautiful gems.
I have been enjoying it greatly. I'm at the end of July right now and love the aesthetics. The music, art style, and gameplay are all supremely satisfying. I'd only played Persona 4 golden in the series, and so far I like this one more but I haven't finished P5 yet.
SupraDarky Persona 5 is EASILY my favorite game of 2017. I've not yet played 3 or 4, but I cant wait to play them after playing this masterpiece. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!. It's sooo good(imo) I added it to my playlist of Best VGM, but honestly this song you posted is possibly my favorite in the game, it'll be the next one I add for sure. Also (SPOILER) Niijima's Palace music is fucking amazing too.
A technically better "game" than 3 and 4 in most senses of the work. Super stylized, pretty as heck, and not lacking anything that the previous had. However, as everyone has already said, the characters (and especially the character development) is a lot weaker than in 4 especially. No one from it holds a candle to the depth and development of, say, Kanji.
I care more about gameplay (fighting) and how much fun im having with games more than story or anything else(yes, even in RPG's) But damn, this game had it all. Fun combat, good story, amazimg music, good characters, beautiful environments. I just thought everything was either good or amazing. I'd probably give it a 9.5/10, and let me tell you, I am somewhat harsh on my reviews, I dont hand out anything above a 9 too often, so me giving it a 9.5 is saying A LOT. But anyways if there are so many people saying they liked Persona 4 more, then I can't even express how much I want to play it. I have a PS3 and a PS4. I'm hoping P4Golden is on PS4 but if not I know it was on PS3.

It definitly has the best combat in the persona imo. I like the story in 4 more than this one but 5 still has a great story. In soundtracks I would say its a tie.
I played persona 4 and loved it and persona 5 is even better in my opinion. The characters are all interesting, the soundtrack, the story. You can't be disapointed by it.
Writing (or the translation?) is a big step down from 3 and 4, but there's a little more variety to the combat. I was actually pretty disappointed, since when it says 'Persona' on the box my expectations are sky high and this game was just... OK. Still worth playing, though.
I really enjoyed it. My favourites in order would probably be 3, 5, then 4. It has its flaws sure but overall really great experience.
I don't usually comment on youtube video, but seeing what is sometime said about that game, i have to say my piece of mind. I feel like this one can't be compared to P3 and P4. I've played of them several times, and when i finished the 3rd, i was like "ok, this will be my favorite of the series". And then came the 4th. And then came the 5th. It's different. In mhy opinion, the character are all well-made, we understand their implication in the whole story, their own stories are interesting and fit in the subject of the game. With the difference in strenght with the PS2, they managed to make many part of the game really strong. (thanks to cinematics, mostly.) The game is weell-written and well balanced. And of course, the ost are awesome. Of course the game's not perfect (like, some stuff at the end of the game for me), but it could easily be the best Persona for a lot of people. I hope i was understandable, since english isn't my frist language. Anyway, thanks for your channel, it's awesome !

In terms of being a Role Playing game from Japan, this is the first time I actually was able to get into character at all times and think like my character and got annoyed at being included in obnoxious group texts just like I would in the real world. Yea, there are complaints about the character writing compared to 4. However, this is more due to P4s dungeons being designed around facing one's self. The dungeons and villains in 5 represent corruption and are meant to embody extremes, so its hard to compare P5s cast to the depth most of P4s cast got. However, If you hated Teddie (as some people did), Morganna is generally seen as having a more important plot role and far less annoying. It feels like he brings something unique to the team. Another thing that makes it a bit different is that you are an outcast from the get go. Without going into detail, no one likes you and no one likes your friends. So you do not really get to join a bunch of clubs because people do not like you. I thought it was a fun twist on instantly being sought after by all the clubs in the previous two games.
Itâs amazing, just beats Persona 4 in my opinion.
I only played P1 & 2 before playing this (I'll get to 3 & 4 eventually..) but it was instantly one of my top jrpgs of all time. I felt really attached to the characters by the end. It has a life-simulation aspect that forces you to decide how to spend your time each day which makes your decisions feel more impactful and gives the story more urgency. Hope you get a chance to enjoy it!

Nice! One of the best songs of one of the best games of 2017 (and my personal fav overall). Also inside the Persona Saga, is the best IMO (i played the previous titles). Im not sure if is my favorite song of Persona 5, its battle theme and other vocal tracks (like Rivers on the Desert) are top notch.

I think this is my favorite song in the entirety of the Persona series. Sure you got jams like âHeartbreak, Heartbreakâ, epic shit like âBattle for Everyoneâs Soulsâ and âThe Almightyâ, and, well, âMemories of Youâ is one of the best ending credits songs ever, but this song really captures a mood I canât describe. Itâs a perfect background song for the average day. Really fits the vibe of P5 and life overall. I canât get enough of it.

If this ever gets an updated rerelease for Switch, I am there day one. It is such a sensational and magnificent game.

I have not made it far into this game yet because I have been playing other games. It is the first Persona game I have played. As far as the soundtrack goes it was my favorite of 2017. This song happens to be my favorite song sung by Lyn. All the vocal songs are really fantastic.
