Oh man, didn't expect to find this here; really digging this soundtrack aswell. And for those wondering, the game has had it's rough turns but is still in development (since 2009 I believe?? Had a release date of Winter 2014 but yeah) - however, it's going to change brand and not be Mother 4. This is to avoid it being another casualty of Nintendo's legal meassures, which have buried many a fangame upon release - perhaps not even Itoi could prevent that. It's pretty sad, but I definitely understand their reasoning.

Crazy that I've been listening to this song for nearly 4 years and development is still ongoing. The rebrand is for the better, though! Was so excited yet felt spoiled when the a majority of the OST was released a few months ago due to a falling out. Shane Mesa really did a fantastic job. I absolutely love the vibe of this song. It's so silky smooth to listen to. I feel that it has more of a Mother 3 feel to it.

I noticed the Mother 4 twitter page now says "COMING SOON", I'm super excited for it. Sure, it's not a creation of Shigesato Itoi but from what I've seen, it looks absolutely awesome and spot-on with the Earthbound vibes. The full soundtrack is already available and I bought it yesterday, though I'm forcing myself not to listen to all of it. The few tracks I heard are mighty impressive.

Sakito Shane Mesa (the composer) is awesome. I don't know anything about music theory, but I do know this *really* sounds like music from a canceled Mother game.
Mother 4 was supposed to release at least 5 years ago. The team decided to rebrand, removing any direct references to the mother series including the title. It’s had a lot of setbacks, and I worry it will never be released. Unfortunately, I read with the rebrand, they also will not be including any of the original music created so far by Shane Mesa. It’s a shame, because all of it has been really good and very Mother-y. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be released in some form soon!
The music is still being used, bobsagetluvr1. For a short while it was decided that it wouldn't, and it was a travesty. But the team came to an agreement with permission to use Shane Mesa's Soundtrack.

I believe that the "COMING SOON" was because the name of the project needs to be changed (since they are changing the name from fear of a C&D). It will change into a spiritual successor to the MOTHER series.
I heard they got the rights to use the Shane Mesa music though? They have it announced on their twitter as such.
