All the people I know who played this game have it in their Top games of 2017. I will be uploading my own Top 10 as usual, but unlike 2016 where I almost struggled to find 10 games worthy of such a list, I unfortunately ran out of time to play tons of amazing 2017 games. Night in the Woods is one of those games.
I recently started my second playthrough of this game, it really is special. Gregg rulz ok?
SupraDarky Mine has to be Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Sonic Mania, I loved the game releases for 2017 and I hope you are just as excited for Kirby Star Allies as I am!! 2018 is going to rock.

Never heard of this game before.
I absolutely loved this game. The characters and their problems felt so real. The music is also lovely.

This theme nails perfectly that sense of nostalgia that rushes through you when you return to your hometown if you've moved away from it for a long time.

i'm incredibly upset about how short this game is, but its filled to the brim with TONS of great music.
It's short but also a game meant to be replayed at least two times, I think.
I'm really excited to play this game when I get around to it. For me it feels like Oxenfree, in that the characters are struggling with incredibly human things in incredibly human ways (minus the whole supernatural bit) and that is perhaps the most compelling of all story telling. As much as I want to see myself in Cpt. America or Commander Shepard... I see more of myself in Alex and her friends. I hope Night in the Woods has a similar vibe.
BombOmbBuddy it's probably one of my favorite games now, it hit me right in the feels so hard. Your comparison makes me want to play oxenfree, because yes, NITW is human as heck
Daedalus117 Oh I can't recommend it enough, friend! I had the main character's face on my water bottle for ages until I lost it recently. The characters are so lovely, and there doesn't feel like one right way to play the story. It just feels like it happens, like life really. I can't sing praises enough for the game, really. The highest accolade I can give it is this: I want to hang out with the cast in real life. That's my own personal measure for a well written group of characters. Night School also has a new game coming out this year so if you like their work in Oxenfree there's more on tap!
Oxenfree is a great game, but it's more thriller with character development through conversation. I'd still recommend it though its great :D
it's an amazing game. The only real downside would be a sorta flat ending. but if you like great characters you will love this game. If you liked Oxenfree you will definitively love this one.
They maybe animals but they're still people.
Game has a suprisinly well made soundtrack. I personally listen to the rainy varient of the town theme when I go out walking. Helps me relax
2017 was such a great year for gaming that I almost forgot about Night in the Woods :'(
Just a personal recommendation for those playing for the first time: Don't play the bass in your room until after the first band practice. The first song you play in the game really sticks with you.
