There's something about this game's battle system that I really enjoy, same with the sequel actually or even Vagrant Story. I'd love to play more games that use a similar system. The game also oozes style and atmosphere... I might be due for a replay soon.
Same here! If only I had time to play all my old rpgs. I've been craving a Brave fencer mushashi play through as well. I remember getting both games for xmas the same year.

Shimomura was great. Now everything she makes sounds pretty much the same.
I agree, Final Fantasy XV in my opinion has mostly a generic soundtrack when compared to her previous works.
I feel like Aya's face from the cover there was almost scientifically formulated to be perfectly beautiful. She's so striking. And yeah, I was just replaying this game a few weeks ago and this track snagged me with its incredible ambiance... I think you can see the influence of house music and trip-hop in it. Really sublime.

As much as this song is really good, it kind of calmed me down more than it scared me. I only say that since this game was considered a horror game. Other than that, I love the chill mood. It’s like the game is telling you: “Don’t be afraid. You can beat them.”
Considering you're a mitochondrial esper who can basically heal yourself infinite times, it's not really that scary.

Wow, I just played this game a few days ago, I spent the whole Christmas week playing. Nothing better than taking the last week of the year playing a nostalgic game ... and now the whole ost of it is in my playlist, I loved the opera copy with synthesizers ... and the game is very good and has a very crazy final boss. For those who want more games with this style of music cyber punk 90s, there is The Silver Case, this game combines a lot with Parasite Eve.
I played it before Christmas this year too, lol. The game is set at that time, after all...
I'd like to hear Shimomura return to this sound.
I remember having a disc which could run American games on a PAL PSone and playing this in black and white because my TV wasn't 60Hz. Loved it! Played it again a few years later in colour... that rat transformation, and the slime!

One of my top rpgs of all time. Played through this game so many times I lost track. PE2 was a let down for me a bit but I’m glad this first one still exists in my life. Holds up pretty good too!
