Drive down the interstate and hi way to this song, it makes more sense! Great tune to drive to.
This one is showing Mega Man's resolve in the face of exhaustion (you had to beat all the Robot Masters of Mega Man 2 AND 3 to get here), but victory is close.

A few hours ago I once again finished this game. When I was a kid, I used to play this game a lot! I didn't even remember that this piece of gold was there, and now I can't get it out of my head.
I hope this tune makes it in Smash Bros.

At first I didn't think much of this song...... then I realized how deep and dark it is, since you're so close to the final battle with Wily, and it gave me chills Definitely a great underrated song
This song sounds really peaceful and benevolent. It's also the reason why MegaMan 3 is my favorite in the series.

My favorite of the series as well, especially music-wise. Megaman 2 gets all of the love, but I truthfully prefer this one and even 4 (at least musically) to 2.

One of the best 8-bit compositions ever. Impossible to believe that such an emotional piece can be made with the NES sound chip.
Continued After Wily's death, the people fear Megaman will go rogue, so they force Light to shut him down. Light doesn't want to, but Megaman, feeling his purpose in life is complete, tells Light it's okay. Megaman is shut down and Light, years later, looks to his next project, Megaman X.
What a coincidence. I have an idea for a film that chronicles Megaman's entire life. Basically, I would place this tune during his last battle with Wily. Earlier in the film, he witnesses a death at the hands of Wily, so he gets the idea that keeping one man alive at the cost of many isn't a good idea. So in the final battle, as Wily escapes, Megaman shoots his ship in a way that destroys its flying capabilities, causing the ship to crash and explode.
They are both epic on their own rights. This one is my personally favorite. Maybe is not that flashy, but it has a lot more feeling

Easy to recognize theme. Definitely a game that kept you at the edge of your seat.

Some of the greatest video game music ever. I remember thinking, as a kid, that Mega Man would die at the end of this game, simply because this music sounded so resolute...yet hopeless. It sounded determine...but ultimately futile. Mega Man knew he wasn't getting out of Wily's fortress alive, but goddamn it...he was taking the doctor with him. It's amazing what Capcom (and Konami, for that matter) could evoke musically with the NES' primitive sound chip.

The means they had back then might be primitive compared to the possibilities they have today. But I would never call this music primitive. They really came up with great, original and actually very advanced music back in the 8-bit days. I guess the limited means make people a lot more creative.

if you think about it this makes it feel like Megaman is sad..he finally thinks Wily reformed and he even worked WITH him to try and create a robot that would keep peace (though hows a 300 foot robot supposed to do that? LOL) but then he uses his brother to try and kill him and then breaks into Lights lab to steal what they worked so hard to create...Mega must have been so depressed at this point

@knucklesfanyeah first reason is the designer for the game gave him the name Rockman incorporating music-theme, thus Rock's sister is Roll and Blues is Protoman's name in Japan. theres a lot of others in the series that have music reference. and second is for the rock/paper/scissors system

@Gantrioch Before Roll was thought up, they decided on RockMan because RokuMan (stereophonic pronunciation) sounded like the cutest name. And cute suited the original design for Megaman.

I really don't find Wily Stage 1 or 2 that sad, at least not as sorrowful as this one. Same goes for WoodMan. In my opinion, they're all really good songs, but with the three you've selected I really don't get the feeling that MegaMan or the Robot Masters are feeling regret for things they are doing. Rather, I get the feeling that MegaMan cares but rushes ahead to get the job done. With my selected tunes, it feels as if MegaMan will turn back any time, regretting defeating his 'brothers'.

A lot of the Mega Man (E.G, before 8) soundtracks had the most distinct music for the time, the music was powerful--yet sad at the same time. Perfect examples of this would be Mega Man 1- Dr. Wily Stage 1, Mega Man 3- Dr. Wily Stage 2, and of course my personal 'sad and mysterious' favorite, Dust Man- Mega Man 4. This is why I love Capcom, the tunes of the stages create a sense of sorrow and mystery behind the Robot Masters--almost as if they don't want to fight Mega Man.

I agree, This was my favorite Wily music as a kid and still it now, Like GreatFox42 said, this song has "It's coming to end. Keep moving". This song to me gives me a feeling of hardship. You can't give up now. It also has that dark feeling, that kind of feeling when you're so far from home but there is no turning back. Brings back memories, I have to go dig up my NES now.

I agree with you. The song is not only mysterious but also a bit sad which fits perfectly in to the situation with Protoman. What do you think about the theme from the first 2 Wily stages in Megaman 1? I absolutely love that song. I was only 5 when I played the game my first time, and as soon as I got to the stage I just stopped and listened to the music. It's not as powerfull as other Wily themes, but it's also filled with mystery and sadness.
While I will agree that MM3 was not THE best of the series (I still like it, however.), it had probably one of the best soundtracks of the entire series.

I really do feel what you're saying However I think they made a huge mistake when making MM3 because there was no opening cutscene to set up the story, which was sorely needed, before you start the game That made it a little tougher to understand the cutscenes during the game (esp as a kid) and I definitely couldn't think of the game in terms of a storyline at that point They don't even tell us who or what Gamma is and why he/it is important They just refer to him/it like we should already know

Seriously, Episode 2 is overrated. Really, this theme has that feeling you're in a dark and scary place and you just have to keep moving, or that feeling when you know you're going to die and you're scared to tears, but you have to move on as you can't let your love ones down.
