I don't think I can ever get away with uploading a track from the SNES version of this game without mentioning that yes, I actually prefer it over the PC Engine version (with only a few exceptions). I really do miss this series, in both classic and metroidvania forms.
I also think the SNES sound better than the PC version for some mysterious reason. And I mainly miss the classic games with high difficulty and amazing music. Level-based platformers don't really exist anymore.

Two of my favorite franchises, megaman and castlevania, seem to have died. What will fill the empty void that these two once occupied?
Where on earth did you get that list of composers? None of those guys worked on Dracula X, this game's soundtrack was done by akiropito, Jigokuguruma Nakamura, Sanoppi, and Metal Yuhki.
Tomita and co. worked on the SNES version.

Incredible song! I wish I had known about Castlevania when it was first starting up. I find it to be a series that's hard to start now, from the 1st game.

When I first heard this track, I was impressed. It didn't sound like any other track on the SNES. It almost doesn't sound like it was from the SNES.
The track is good for the SNES, but I still prefer the PC Engine version.
I never played Castlevania growing up, but I remember reading about how it wasn't considered as good as other pre-Metroidvania entries in the series and wasn't sure why. But watching someone stream a race of the game and seeing him die to the same bullshit obstacles and jumps every time made me realize why.
This music does not make me want to kill Dracula. It makes want to dance.
Listening to this song makes me excited for what Bloodstained becomes when it comes out sometime next year. I have played some Metroidvanias, but I have not played a true Metroidvania. What would anyone recommend for someone who has not played a true Metroidvania/Igavania?
Both Sorrow games (Aria + Dawn), Symphony of the Night (obligatory mention), Portrait of Ruin - and for a more Metroidy Metroidvania, Axiom Verge!
Specifically Castlevania games that play like Metroid? Obviously Symphony of the Night, the two Sorrow games and the other two DS games are also fantastic. Obviously Super Metroid, the greatest game in the genre, and Metroid Zero Mission. For indies, try Guacamelee, Axiom Verge, Aquatic Adventures of the Last Human or Hollow Knight. Cave Story is a very popular one but it doesn't appeal to me.
Eric C. All of them are great tbh. i suppose Symphony would be the best place to start, considering it's the classic.
