I'm watching someone play through Doom 2016 and it reminds me a lot of Metroid Prime. Same atmosphere, same cute little flavor text touches, a group of villains that are stupidly dedicated to the cause of science.

My favorite FPS from 2016 was Titanfall 2, but DOOM would probably be placed second in that regard. Awesome track.

Plust Wolfenstein the new order and the old blood. The Menu theme from The New Order and The Partisan are probably my favorites.
funny reading about Mick Gordon here. I've been listening to his Killer Instinct-ablum, and got reminded of him from this track. Pretty obvious now that I know this track is made by the same guy. Sick talent.

As a big fan of the Doom series, I was excited to hear that they would go back to the roots with the fast paced gameplay and well hidden secret areas. I will be very honest here as I know this game is very widely praised, but I always want to say what I truly feel: I was slightly disappointed. Funny to be saying that while it's still my #5 of the year, because in the end it was still an awesome game that provided me with non-stop action and entertainment. My main gripe with the game was that the level design started great but quickly ended up being way too linear, which also killed most of the challenge of finding the secrets. Compared to the classic Doom games, the level design was very simple and something that reminded me of Bioshock Infinite's compared to System Shock 2 or even Bioshock. However, the gameplay, music and graphics are so good that I still really enjoyed it all, the adrenaline you get while fighting hordes of monsters is why you play this game. And it's funny too, because I'm actually also a big fan of Doom 3's slower, more horror themed gameplay. Overall an excellent stylish game that will surely give us a sequel soon, and I can't wait.

yah, Doom 4 is the big experiment to see if the style can still work; I'd wager Doom 5 will be the one that refines it and makes a truly great, timeless classic
SupraDarky I know something got strange mid way through the campaign and didn't quite feel as sharp as the first half or so, but I think I know what it is thanks to you. Still my GOTY out of the 3 or so AAA games I bought in 2016.
