this is the most underrated song in the game. Also my favorite. Way better than level 1's theme.

This track helped take the horror theme up a notch as you fell into the depths of the level at the start. mission: obtain holy water --> level to 3 --> don't die before boss lol

Good soundtrack for its time-- but bad design. trying to throw a subweapon on a staircase is so needlessly frustrating.

This game's soundtrack was way above most of the other NES games at the time of its 1986 release, huge props to Yamashita for composing such a classic. It really helped settle this game's uniquely dark, helpless atmosphere.

Listening to this song makes me feel excited to play this classic when the NES Classic Edition comes out in November. I am so glad that Nintendo is brining back classic NES for a new generation of gamers to enjoy.

It shouldn't be possible that you haven't gotten this recommendation before, but just in case, have you ever played Gimmick for the NES? Even if you haven't (since it was only released in Japan and Scandinavia), you really ought to check out the OST, it blew my young mind away back in the day and I still listen to it every now and then to this day. Amazing game, amazing soundtrack, and was one of the very, very few games (maybe the only?) for the NES that actually had a separate sound card inside of the cartridge, to be able to handle more advanced sounds than the other games.

Gimmick is a great game with a great soundtrack which will definitely get some love in this list.
