The music kind of sounds sad
I love this game very much because instead being a supersoldier be a marine because a Spartan is very powerful but lack in stealth but odst is very stealth tactical so the darkness is their strength. If a single marine can take out a brute with knowledge and experience. Just because if you are a Spartan it doesn't mean jackshit, Spartans are humans but upgraded. They still die like everyone else. Halo reach has proven this.

Oh, I think I figured out why this gives me such an emotional response. This might not necessarily fit for the whole track but parts of it remind of Rocky movies where usually Rocky is down in the dumps or something and there is a quiet moment of him going threw that moment or remembering some memorable flashback.
Artistically, this is a great tune. Doesn't fit with the overall Halo universe.
For what this song was for, and what was going on in the scene, and just how it sounds in general, I think this fits in perfectly in my opinion.
The entire point of this soundtrack was to provide a direct contrast to all other Halo games. Instead of an epic bombastic score, it's more intimate and a more small scale affair, just like the game it's featured in.

Well each "song" in the OST are compiled of smaller tracks. Rain is part of Deference for Darkness, Another Rain is part of The Light at the End, and so on.
Halo ODST is a very underlooked game. To be honest I loved it more compared to the rest of halo. after experiancing so much of the series, it was a breath of fresh air just to be a normal soldier. weak. feeble. not as fast. you had to be tactical and work as a team. i loved the feeling of relying on my stealth and tactics to survive the night of the city while finding audio records to get a true idea of all that happened during such dark events.
Yeah, probably my favorite solo halo experience.

i knew i loved this song when i got out of the first mission after you find the helm, it started raining and the music played, i stopped moving and really felt the vibe of the city. humans have to defend against aliens and soldier gods are M.I.A. i love this part of the game.
Too bad they fired the guy. Absolutely love this song. So atmospheric and moving.
ODST's soundtrack is OVERPOWERED. Seriously, just filled with great tracks. It might not be everyone's favorite Halo game, but the OST alone makes it high on my list.

For being in a genre where the music is average at best, this song is really smooth and mellow. It feels more like a sorrowful song.
Respectfully, I disagree. I've always found the Halo soundtracks to be quite varied and dynamic. I still remember the adrenaline rush in the final mission of Combat Evolved. However, I will agree with you that this track brings different things to the table.
To be fair though, I have not listened to many OSTs for FPS games. Plus, I am not the biggest fan of FPS franchises (particularly Halo and COD).
I love how O'Donnell and Salvatori took the opportunity of working on a Halo side story to go in a different direction musically. The jazzy soundtrack is probably my favorite in the franchise. I'm sure I'll be playing all the Halo campaigns at some point, I love what I played.
I really love this game (you can tell by my profile pic) and only got to play its campaing last april. It's certainly the most unique Halo experience out there, and even though I still consider Reach my favorite halo game, ODST had this feeling none of them ever had. The streets of New Mombasa have an amazing atmosphere, and this beautiful music adds a lot to it.
