This may not be my favorite Castlevania (personally, I’d take Bloodlines and Symphony of the Night any day), but hot damn, does it come close.

I think Nintendo made developers add "super" to their titles, which is unfortunate because that ultimately cheapens the name considerably. Regardless, this is an excellent game with a superb soundtrack.
This is my favorite Konami game, too. It's arguable whether Symphony of the Night and Dawn of Sorrow are better, but this is my personal favorite. It's unfortunate there were so few linear Castlevania games after this one-- it was such a triumph that it's a shame they haven't made too many like it. There's only been, what, Rondo of Blood and (20 years later) The Adventure Rebirth?
Anyone want to place a bet on which track from this game SD will upload next? (Cuz ya just KNOW that he'll come back to this game at some point...) My money is on Room of Close Associates.
No way, that theme is too short. My bet is on Waterfall. Such a great theme despite playing in only one screen.
My freaking favorite tune from 4. Was waiting on this one for quite a while. (Have you ever done Sinking Old Sanctuary or any of its variants? That's probably my favorite CV tune out of the entire series.)
This is my favorite Castlevania. I'd love to see another game made like this with level progression and not "metroidvania" style. Sadly that probably won't happen. Bring on Bloodstained, I hope it doesn't get delayed as much as mighty no 9.
SupraDarky, you have uploaded many great songs, thanks for the hard work bro. Do you ever plan on doing something else like top 10s, etc? maybe some analysis on why some songs hit you the way they do? Would be awesome to hear more from you.

My favorite Konami game too, I love the Metroid-style Castlevanias but I always prefered this style. Makes the music so much more memorable.
It reminds me a bit to Mike Oldfield's album Ommadawn

+Volkerball2005 Thanks for the message and supporting the channel! I finished Samorost 1&2 and saw that 3 just released, but am surprised by its 20$ price tag. I'm guessing it must be much longer than the prequels, maybe around Machinarium's length? I'll definitely play it this year.
+SupraDarky Glad to have your answer, I feel honored ! After reading some reviews, people are saying that Samorost 3 is surpassing by far its predecessors, it seems that the Amanita Design studio have pushed their talent beyond everything they've done before. I didn't see any mention about the length of the gameplay but it should be longer than Samorost 2 with that 20$ tag yeah. Have fun with that game. :)
Reminds me a lot of when I first heard the music from the SNES, at a VG store where someone was demoing Super Mario World.

Legendary game with a legendary soundtrack. I can go back and replay this game any time any where and never get tired of it. Sure the acid sewers level sucks but the rest of the game is a masterpiece. Proud to call it #9 on my top 10 favorite games of all time.
Aw I wouldn't say it sucks, the level is pretty cool thematically. That last bridge with the disappearing blocks is a bitch though heh, right before the boss!
Hopefully Bloodstained ends up being a good game with a great OST, like the older Castlevania games, shame that companies like Konami and Capcom killed their older franchises.
+SupraDarky So many good franchises didn't survive the 2D to 3D transition gracefully. it's too bad they won't sell the licenses to up-and-coming developers, instead forcing them to kickstart spiritual successors, but at least Iga has bloodstained coming soon. Been enjoying your channel for years, and just finished my quest to go through each video sequentially. But I noticed an absent list that I'd love to see your take on: top VGM with a focus on vocals. Things like ways to fall, suteki da ne, or the great mighty poo (not that all three of those make my personal top ten).
Ahhh Konami, what happened to you. How could you let such amazing and classic franchises down like that. Castlevania, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Suikoden... What a bummer. Looking back at my list of favorite games of all time, this is actually my favorite Konami game ever.
Hopefully, another company will take control of those franchises and treat them with respect.

+SupraDarky Nintendo is the only video game company I can think of who treats their games with love and care in the 2010s just as much as they did in the 1980s.
+electricmastro Although you make a good point quite a few Paper Mario and Metroid fans will disagree with you. Still, compared to most companies that's still a fairly positive track record.
@Wardogblacky EX Every company has their bumps in the road, but I think Nintendo has run into them the fewest number of times compared to others.
