This really sounds a lot like Hiroki Kikuta's earlier soundtrack for Secret of Mana on SNES. :D

+Louis Claudel It is, is a mix of rpg and survival horror of the 90. It has a beautiful music and a great story, and the shadow hearts prequel.

heard like the normal battle music called koudelka - waterfall. the boss battle theme i thought it call incantation was the best music in this really really good psx game!
+Vato Loco 92 Yeah, I think Waterfall and Incantation are a bit better than this one, though it's still pretty good!

+The KaBlammer Koudelka is a nice gothic rpg. The gameplay has two parts : one is exploration (you need to find items in the background in order to progress)and the other part is fighting monsters on a chessboard, as in final fantasy tactics. The life of the game is short, but the story is great, the characters endearing, the atmosphere spooky and respectuous of occidental culture. A classic that i can only recommend if you like its genre^^

One of the few RPGs left on the PS1 I still have/want to play. As a huge fan of the Shadow Hearts series, I have no idea why it's taking me so long to give the prequel a shot. Interestingly, Kikuta not only composed the soundtrack but was the game's producer/designer/writer. The company that was behind the series, Sacnoth (later known as Nautilus), was founded by Kikuta.
+SupraDarky by shere luck I played koudelka before sh1 but had no idea they were related until koudelka showed up. Its a different game of course. I stoped playing sh3 because it didn't have the sh vibe,sh2 started going wacky were sh1 was a dark and rich world
+SupraDarky I actually own a copy I bought a year or so back. I need to really sit down and play it. It really doesn't play nearly as well as the Shadow Hearts games and its a clunky mess, but having read an LP of it I can totally say that despite that its still one of the best written and voice-acted JRPGs of all time. Its the anti-JRPG narrative-wise in almost every way.
+SupraDarky It is not a prequel, A prequel is made after the original while the story is set before the events of the original. So Star Wars 1,2 and 3 are prequels because they were made after 4,5 and 6 but set earlier in the timeline. Halo Reach is a prequel because it was made after Halo Combat Evolved and its story is set before.
+SupraDarky It was an interesting game, but it was , as was stated above, very clunky and this was true even back when it came out in the ps1 era. I gave up on it after getting about a third or half way through it. But it was an interesting concept with impressive mood. The characters were not too interesting, imo.
