Wow, I completely forgot about this game, I actually put a good amount of hours into this game, considering this and ZOE were the only two games I owned on my Ps2 for a long time.
Very short game, but it was good. The ending credits music is simply incredible though!

Wow forgot about this game. First game i played for the PS2. Like you i saw the familiar Square design and just had to play and rent it from BB. Its not as bad as the reviews say.

I think it's a shame that they just dropped this game when it didn't do well. It honestly wasn't that bad a game. A little more polish, and I think that the sequels could've been awesome.

@WhiteTigerShiro The game was a decent arena brawler honestly. If they had put some more attention to the depth of the game mechanics and added more content, with a little less confusing story mode it could've been a great game.

This was a game I wish got more attention. Yeah it was short but it had tons and tons of replay value. Multiplayer was also really well done considering Square wasn't known for fighting games too. Story was really meh though.
I remember when the PS2 just came out and this was the game that intrigued me the most when I was looking through the console's library at the local Blockbuster. Intrigued mostly because this was a Square game with recognizable character design on the box. Funny how I never actually ended up playing it. I remember hearing the presentation was slick and the gameplay fun, but how it was way too short.
@SupraDarky I remember I got this game for the same reason. It looked beautiful, and I played a bit of it, but I never got through it. I heard that the game ended up being really short, so it was almost like an experiment on some sort, but it really is a relic of the times where games could just be made without a large brand or marketing attached behind it.
@SupraDarky I remember playing this but I don't remember a lot about the game itself. Wasn't it a brawler or something? I just remember being totally awful at it. The main character Sion always made me think of Xenosaga, just because his name was pronounced the same as Shion's. That and he kind of bears a resemblance to Sora from Kingdom Hearts, if you aged him up a bit and turned him into a fist fighter, hah. Probably the spiky hair.
@Iyasenu Yeah, I remember this being the first time I really noticed Nomura's penchant for a certain type of spiky hair. And bling. Lotsa bling.
@SupraDarky Well. I own the game currently, and all I can say is it not terrible.
@SupraDarky Felt the same back then. I also didn't buy it and feel no remorse :) Not every Square game is a gem. I also feel like the main character from The Bouncer was the base for Sora from Kingdom Hearts.
@SupraDarky I was intrigued for the same reason. I remember renting it and beating it. I think it was more of a showcase for what Square could do with the ps2 at the time. It was a pretty beautiful game for it's time. I liked it but I can't remember being very standout in story or gameplay. Had a badass feel though.
