I think the best thing about Lufia (at least Lufia 2; never played the first) was how the dungeons weren't just a series of corridors that needed to be navigated to get from Point A to Point B; they were actual puzzles that required thought to clear. So there was that little bit of extra pride in getting through them, because it wasn't just a matter of over-leveling the enemies to get past a given section of the game.
I played Lufia 2 before I ever knew the first one existed, it was really weird playing them in "chronological" order. Fantastic games the both of them. Also one of the first RPG series (other than the Phantasy Star) I ever played that offered direct continuity with each other, way cool.
I've never played either Lufia 1 or 2. Which one should I play first?

@bill johnson Terrible script? What do you mean? But I like Lufia 1's romantic feel. It's a pleasant surprise, the way it ended.
@drunyon214 Lufia I is far easier, I beat it when I was like 9 or 10. Lufia II is the better game, but some of the puzzles get fairly difficult and can have you stumped.
@drunyon214 Lufia 1 is pretty good. Lufia 2 is a godlike video game and one of my absolute favorite SNES games. I like the equipment specials and capsule monsters most.
This is one of the first games to make me cry. Even though I played Lufia 1 first, the ending man. The ending.
At the end, just before the loop. How did they squeeze that final fantasy 8 instrument out of the sness!! It's like fishermans horizon!! :D
@garfreeek The playstation uses the same chip for sound that the snes used. Afterall sony did supply everything for nintendo back in the day. It was the president of nintendo at the time that backstabbed sony right before unveiling the playstation to the public...see nintendo worked with phillips to create the 64DD which was the first ever cd playing system...it was a failure in japan as well as the addon for the 64 didnt sell. Sony heard of this and pretty much ripped the contract and cut ties with nintendo and instead of nintendo getting the nintendo play station as their new system...they entered the market with their new console using the exact same specs for sound that the snes used. Hence why they sound so similar. The more ya know eh. We can all thank the old president for poor marketing and business skills. I hope i educated you on this matter.
@Tcg Patrick Wow thanks! I didn't know this! I remember a "did you know gaming" explaining that switch, nintendo were horrible and deserve everything that happened with the cdi! I still onl play nintendo games, but that's mainl because I don't have enough cash for both xD
@garfreeek well nintendo has the best games so far and will continue to besidds the witcher but still...the ps4 gets no exclusives from what ive heard but the wii u is getting a ton.
I have a short list of games I can replay every year or other year, and an even shorter list of RPGs. Lufia II being in that short list shows how much I like it. It just has a mix of everything done right, with the quality puzzles being a highlight when compared to other RPGs. The music is of course another big highlight (the boss and Sinistrals battle themes being some of my favorites ever).
@SupraDarky I always forget this has puzzles as wel! I got spoiled by golden sun and now xenoblade felt kind of bare and empty! Looking forward to playing this game this summer :D Thanks as always ^_^

@SupraDarky Gift Mode is probably one of the greatest bonus addition in any game ever. The ancient cave is awesome.
@SupraDarky <3 I love this game so much, played it a ton as a kid and still play a bit today. I've still yet to beat it though lol. I only can play it on the rare occasions that I get to go to my friends vacation house where we have the SNES set up
