and chrono trigger too. It seems to use the same set of sounds. It was actually inspired by those kinds of games, I had to look it up cause the picture reminded me of earthbound.

I'm heavily reminded of "Island of Ruins" from Ardy Lightfoot on the SNES. Both this and that are awesome songs.

Bought this on Steam because it looked like Earthbound. The moment I started playing it confirmed that it is indeed a direct inspiration, mixed with a western setting... and that makes me smile. It starts pretty slow and the combat system feels wonky at first, but it's starting to pick up (I just finished the Whisker Woods), hopefully I enjoy the rest of the journey. The soundtrack is good enough so far, with this theme being a highlight. It made me go check out who was the composer and to my surprise, it's Jake Kaufman! It's nice to see him tackle SNES-style music, this particular theme screams Squaresoft SNES RPG.
Gonna have to pick this up when I get the chance

I didn't hear of Jake Kaufman til Shovel Knight (which is awesome) ,but like you said this shows some of his range being quite different from that OST
Just to inform you, this is first game in a planned trilogy, so I don't know the game's lenght.
