I recently played Suikoden I & II and I loved them! Do you think that Suikoden III is worth the effort or should I jump straight to V?
I personally loved Suikoden III, though I can see how fans of the first two games don't like it as much. I played it back when it released, but from what I remember I had a great time with it. Suikoden IV is the game most people recommend skipping.
@SupraDarky IV is still a pretty good game, just not a great Suikoden game. Watered down, still fun though, I don't remember it being a very lengthy game. Suikoden V is all kinds of fucking awesome though. 2 > 5 > 1 > 3 > 4 imo. I haven't played Tactics and I don't count Tierkreis.
+SteinerZi You should play Suikoden III. It's a very good game, and some subplots introduced in Suikoden I and Suikoden II are resolved in Suikoden III. Oh, and there are quite a lot of returning characters, but they are older, so it's interesting to see how they changed.

Aw man this game is awesome! I actually played it for the first time this summer and I plan to do the same with its sequel this summer because of the PSN release.
This game has a hilariously diverse soundtrack for a game that's supposed to have an East Asian theme. I played this game for the first time about a month back thinking it hasn't aged quite well in terms of physics and gameplay, but my opinion of this game has changed quite a bit as I played through it more. I really want to find a copy of Suikoden II without having to pay over 100 bucks for one. I know I could just get it on PSN now, but I prefer having physical copies over digital downloads. Plus I can transfer over my S1 save file.

Well, yeah, but I'd have to have played the digital copy of the first Suikoden, right? I'm talking about transferring a save file from a legit PS1 memory card.
Sony put out a USB memory card adaptor. If you know anyone who has one, you can easily transfer your save to the PS3.
I need to finish this game and start the second. Although I'll probably have to start over when I do since I'll have no idea where I stopped, where to go, etc.

I'm surprised you had not already uploaded this one. Yeah Suikoden is a great series of rpgs. III and IV are hit and miss at times, but I generally grown to like them for one reason or another.

As much as I prefer Suikoden II (now finally available through the Playstation Network), I have a soft spot for this game as it introduced me to this beloved series. The celtic atmosphere is such a refreshing setting, one that we rarely get in video games. A fast battle system and intriguing story also really helps. Anyone played Suikoden II for the first time thanks to its PSN release? One of the best RPGs of its generation.
I played both Suikoden I and II for the first time via PSN. Both great games! I'd love if the rest of the series was eventually brought onto PSN
I'm playing this one right now since Suikoden 2 got released on PSN recently, and I don't really like it all the much so far(mainly the battle system and the characters), but I really want to play the second one so I'll make it through

I did play it (bought it 100 bucks along with the first one) and I liked it up until the last third of the game. Had they ended it after you fell the Baddest Villain in gaming I'd have probably put it above Suikoden I. You can blame Jowy for that.
Who loves the Muse City theme?
Probably the only memorable town theme I can think of...aside from the remix of Beautiful Golden City. Very lively though, it looks and feels like a market town.
Yeah. This game has tons of good music. Gregminster, Rockland, Dungeon Theme, Boss Battles and Toran Castle. Glorious Empire is also good.
This is my favorite Suikoden game. I found it by accident at a pawn shop when I was ten. Best accident ever.
I came in contact with the series years ago when a friend introduced me to it with Suikoden II. I played Suikoden I and II then. Very awesome games, one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I recommend everyone being a fan of (J)RPGs to play them. A little time later I ended up buying both SI and SII for like 170 euros on ebay :D But, y'know, I regret nothing :)

its a shame that Konami threw this series away. all us diehard fans await a day when suikoden 6 will emerge
