never got the chance to play PE. I stumble upon this track. It sounds similar to cavern of remembrance from KH2.5 Remix. No doubt this came out first. I wonder it's the same composer. Or if he was inspired by this track.

Childhood memories. :) I will never forget this game. Parasite Eve is one of my Top list of RPG games and 2nd were Final Fantasy series.
This song is really great, it makes me want to play the game but..... isn't this game supposed to suck? Anybody? I don't know if it would be good in todays standards and the game seems weird.....
If you like rpg and horror games, this is highly recommended, it has one of the best battles systems, and a really cool story, one of my favorites games.

I was surprised to see NO horror games make your "All time favorite game, top 30" when you did that awhile back (maybe Bioshock counts?, never played it) since I know you are a fan of the genre. Should be a good list though I wonder why none impacted you enough to make the top 30 cut?

Ah the memories...trading cards for upgrades, storing stuff to pass on the attributes with tool and super tool kits, running up Chrysler's 70 floors....I think the only thing I never did was collect 200 junks....I don't even know where to get so much! lol
Good times. It does take time. I just love the upgrade system in this game. I still remember making my M1911A1 into a mini grenade launcher.
@TrueHolyRune One thing I loved doing was making a grenade launcher with all 4 elements at once. It made an interesting effect when you fired because it played the animation for all 4 elements.
@yamiryushi So cool bro. Oh that was a good combo for the grenade launcher. I just love to make overpowered weapons. Makes most boss battles a little easy. I think I am gonna play it again and try out new and wicked combinations.
@TrueHolyRune Just don't make the mistake I made as a kid and use weapon with x10 bullets or something since the damage you do a turn is based on your attack, not the amount of bullets you fire so if you have x2 bullets, they do half the damage a single round would do...took forever to figure that out as a kid lol. Also, use a machine gun (with no xbullets and triple command) since its the fastest attacking weapon. It may not have the range of a rifle but the speed of the shots + burst is absolutely devastating. What I liked to run was burst, triple command and first strike on a machine gun.

@madamminalost Parts of the game get kind of slow and even a little boring. Overall it's a good game though; very innovative for it's time. The New Game + is the best feature for upgrading your gear.

I like when game developers mix two genres together to make a unique game. So a horror RPG like this game sounds quite intriguing.
Oh back in the police station, trading cards for weapon upgrades :) I love this game, I remember my dad had a chipped PSone so I played this imported from America (PAL) and played it in black and white because our TV's couldn't reproduce colour from American NTSC screens due to the refresh rate. I later upgraded to a better TV and experienced this in all it's colourful glory, that first rat mutation video is awesome
oh i remember those days. that was so long ago when PE came out. can you believe it was the last millenium? I was a teenager then and we had those old style TVs but we played a lot of games :)
I did the same thing with Final Fantasy 7. Good times! =D Parasite Eve is one hell of a game though. It's great. =D
The only game I ever pirated as they decided to never release here in the UK or ever put it up on the EU Playstation store and boy did I not regret it, it has such a fantastic atmosphere and the gameplay is incredibly fun to boot! It's a real shame Third Birthday never turned out to be as great as its predecessors.
With Halloween coming up, I thought I'd upload tracks from my 10 favorite horror games. As always, a very personal list that is highly based on how scary I thought it was. Two specific things to note : I don't consider any of the Castlevanias to be horror games... as well as Resident Evil 4 which I honestly didn't find scary (except the Regenerators). To me, it's an awesome action game that strayed away from the series' true horror roots. If it was included, it'd be about #4 in this Top 10.
Parasite Eve being a mix of 2 of my favorites genres (horror and RPG), I immediately loved it. The atmosphere Squaresoft pulled really is something else. I'll always remember seeing the early cutscene with the rat mutating, my 12 year old self was quite shocked at the details. Eve and the mutated creatures all truly felt like a threat (remember the T-Rex boss?). Chillingly memorable RPG.
@SupraDarky TBH, I couldn't play PE 1 and 2 when I was a kid, was too scared, but definitely picked it up as I grew up a bit, just beated it last year again - so satisfying :)
