This, along with the crazy game style is why I loved this game! One of my all-time favs! Except for that part where I grinded for 5 hours to get the Sword of Kings.

I have a SNES cart of Earthbound but I can't find the friggin' box! Kicking myself because I think I might have thrown it out a few years back. A complete set is worth hundreds now >.>

Its also on the wii u e-shop if you still are interested. buying it digitally there is really the only way to show nintendo support for the series now. mainly because once they stopped production of the cartridge they no longer gain profit from it.

This soundtrack is so perfect, it's like the boss is taunting you, just waiting there for you to make a weak move, and then kick your ass just to show you up.

I remember going up against the first Guardian, the Titanic Ant, knowing I was probably not prepared enough for the big fight. And I was right, I got completely crushed! I haven't made the same mistake on my subsequent playthroughs, always spending a couple minutes grinding (a few more levels early in the game makes a huge difference). Going up against bosses with a theme like this one somehow fitting perfectly is one of many reasons why I love this game and its soundtrack.

When I was younger, the soundtrack completely unnerved me, and turned me off from the game. Or, well, it wasn't just the soundtrack: it combined with the bizarre graphics style. The dragon quest style, or "first-person RPG" style didn't get me going for the game either, since I hated the fact that you couldn't see your characters in RPGs (I was obsessed with Final Fantasy during the time), but now I'm finally playing Mother 3, and it's... Well, just as weird as the presentation. Of course, that's what I came for.

This song really fits the atmosphere of the game well. It was an experience to listen to, which is something that all five of my top 5 soundtracks have in common. When I first listened to this soundtrack about a year and a half ago, I was absolutely amazed by how varied it was. It had the perfect mix of great and unique battle themes, good town themes, character themes, and anything in between. I go back and listen to this soundtrack and it still amazes me. Once I purchase a Wii U, I will get this game off the Virtual Console and experience this incredible cult classic.

That buzz saw intro instead of the spiral let you know you were in for a real fight. This was the first RPG I ever played so was definitely smashed by the ant as well. Was so disappointing because felt like it was such a struggle to make it past all the black antoids and moles to get owned at the end :(
