Gosh Everytime you put a theme of Illusion of Time I clearly remember my childhood playing with the SNES.

The composer of this soundtrack, Yasuhiro Kawasaki - did he die? I can't find any information on the guy. I'm seeing no other mentions outside his credit as composer of this soundtrack.
+trenton9 According to Giant Bomb, his last accreditation was "Sound" for Dokuro (Vita 2013) and before that he did "Sound Creation" for Babysitting Mama (Wii 2010) according to Moby Games. He also did some various sound-related jobs in the 90s, but as far as I can find, no soundtracks.

This game is one of my all-time favorites, though I will grant that there are times where you have to wait a while for stuff to happen (Edwards prison, raft sequence, etc), and that can be tedious. Still, one of the most emotional storylines in a game ever to me. This game does have some difficult mazes which might be tedious to some. Personally I loved them. Mu was difficult for me as a kid but now I can beat it with my eyes closed. Also the translation sucked and didn't do justice to the great story.
Yes! Much respect to you for picking this. Illusion of Time (Gaia) was a favourite of mine. The town themes in this game are all amazing.
I loved this game. There was lots of going back and forth, but I smiled as soon as I heard this theme. I haven't replayed this one, but I might do in December.
I like just running around town to the rhythm of this song. It's fun.
To be honest, I like this Game much more than Terranigma, but I think it could be the nostalgy effect. Last Time I played Illusion of Time, i was quite surprised that I remember all the Red Jewels.
Really? You thought the gameplay was tedious? I thought the gameplay was MUCH less tedious than Terranigma, where combat was repetitive AND you had to grind at times, for example to beat Bloody Mary. Grinding is nonexistent in this game, thankfully, which goes a long way towards making it less tedious for me. On the other hand, Terranigma has a better plot and better music (though Illusion of Gaia has good music too). So there are pros and cons to both of them.

It's not aged well, true, but I really enjoy games that give me the sense that I'm on a great adventure. Illusion of Gaia was definitely one of them.
I have to agree with Supra on the gameplay. It was very tedious. But I didn't play for the gameplay, I played for the setting and music. This game locales were frakking awesome.
The nostalgia...
I like Freejia, Town of Falling Petals better. That one just doesn't have the ambient sounds. I played through the game a year ago after Soul Blazer and Lunar Silver Star Story Complete. It was a great game to have ended my summer on... The ending screen having this music and them all getting out of the "modern day" school at sunset really made me happy inside.
One of the best rpg games of SNES
This very rarely happens to me, but I feel like I should have preserved the good memories I had of this game as a kid. I honestly didn't like the game as much as I remembered when I replayed it last year. It's still a good game, but I found the gameplay and the level design quite tedious at times. The very unique atmosphere is what makes this game so memorable, I just thought I'd enjoy the rest the game a lot more. I can now say without hesitation that Terranigma is my favorite of the trilogy. This track is still very nostalgic.
I agree, I tried to do a LP of it a long while ago and was reminded of how boring it can be. Love the music though. Terranigma is a far better game, IMO.
I feel exactly the same about Illusion of Time (european version), I want to play someday Terranigma...
I still enjoy IoG quite a bit (have replayed it several times) but it does have its tedious sections, definitely.
My experience with Illusion of Time was exactly the opposite. As a kid I thought it was an ugly, boring and tedious Zelda wannabe. When I replayed it a couple of years ago however, I was mindblown by its excellent story and atmosphere and also by how well it played. I never thought it felt tedious at any moment during my playthrough.
You've got me scared to reply this now. I remember really enjoying this game as a kid (didn't the instruction manual show you how to get a lot of secret gems that unlock something special?). And I VAGUELY remember a girl changing into a flower or something...lol. Maybe I beter not revisit this one.
