I found this game to be frustrating at times, but fun to play nonetheless. Though I didn't care much for the jungle setting.

i thought this was the actual snake eater song theme with the lady singing. i dont even remember what this was
5:10 onward is burned into my memory and will never fade. It's kinda odd that something so short can still feel like the essence of the entire game. I love the feel the of the song going from something really somber and slow to something very triumphant and spirited.
Two people couldn't make it up the ladder.
This just makes me nostalgic for the trailers for this game.
If I had to say which Metal Gear Solid was my favourite, I would easily choose MGS3 without a doubt! It had such an incredible theme song AND it had "Snake Eater" which was just as fantastic if not better! And the unforgettable characters and thoroughly enjoyable gameplay.. If I had a list of games I could never forget, Snake Eater would definitely fit on that list.

I like hearing how the metal gear solid main theme evolved during the years with each installment. I always watched the opening sequence of MGS 2 just to hear its theme and I was stunned every time. That is however until MGS 3 came out... I think that this might even be the best version, the moment when this theme starts playing when you are battling Volgin on top of the Shegohad and when you finally beat the game and final moments come... It was simply epic.
Ground Zeroes is just a demo of MGS5 anyway.
MGS5 is just an alpha of a game that will never release anyways.

Doesn't part of this song play during the cutscene where Snake is fleeing from the sewer thing? It's been 2 years since I played it and I remember trying to find that song, and someone told me it was in the main theme, but whenever I tried to look up the 'main theme', all I could ever find was Snake Eater. Now I don't even remember how that song went... I do remember that it was amazing though. In other words, it looks like I'll be replaying this one now.
Haha that sewer music -- you wondered about it too? I swear I've heard music that seems very close to it on TV shows like Top Gear, but I can't be sure...

I got this game out of curiosity from a flea market for five dollars, but i have been disappointed for the most part. I should have started with the original. I will also try to get some replacement PS2 controllers so i could play the other games. Also, which game in the series would you recommend for someone new to the series? I would like to know.
Start with 3 its the first game in the story
Start as Kojima intended.. 1 to 4 and don't forget Peace walker and portable Ops.
I would honestly play the Solid series in the order of release. 1 and 2 control different to 3(Subsistance version) and 4 though. It may be a little hard to find a physical copy of MGS1 but it's on PSN. It was actually pretty hard for me to transition from the first 2 to 3 Subsistance because I was so used to the previous play style.
Haven't played 4, but 3 is much more fun than 2 and 1 imo.
Just get the hd collection? Or even the legacy collection.

I always really liked this theme. It was a great substitute for the MGS1/2 main theme after the copyright disputes. (when they revisited this theme for MGS4, that is)

Great multiphase theme for a great game. My favorite game in the series is still the first MGS, but I know a lot of people's favorite is MGS3. But then again, a lot of people's favorite is also #2 or #4, which proves how each iteration maintains the series' known high standards. Ground Zeroes had my curiosity, but now MGS5 has my attention.
For me 4 > 3 > 2 > 1. I feel like saying they're all practically equal, but in reality I probably consider 3 and 4 to be a good step ahead of 1. I was kinda disappointed in the original game though.
I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in your choices for MGS music so far. Sure, Gregson-William's themes are great and all, but so cliché by now... There are plenty of in-game themes which are less famous, but much more original and varied. Take "Rescue Emma" from MGS2, "Rex Lair" from MGS1, or even the alert themes from GZ (which were obviously scored by Ludvig Forssell even if Gregson-Williams is credited)... It's really something else. Military-themed Hollywood-style music is fine. But there is so much more to MGS than this.
Since my last message I replayed MGS1 and had a blast, and decided that in retrospect MGS3 is my favorite, but I think I still like 4 more than 1. 2 is my least favorite now but it isn't far behind the other three TBH. Haven't played MGSV and not really in a mood to remedy that anytime soon.
