Ah, memories of playing this on the good 'ole gameboy pocket. Definitely one of the most underrated 2D mario games.

I never liked this game. I take a lot of flack for it, but it just always annoyed me to play. I despise most of the music (which for the most part is the same track in a slightly different arrangement), and was never a fan of the level design or physics. It feels weird saying that as someone that loves Mario games to death, but sadly, this was the one Mario game that I just couldn't enjoy. Even in 2014, I can't play it without cringing.
You're free to think whatever you feel, but let's not forget, much of Super Mario World's and Super Mario 64's soundtracks were also variations on the same melody!
Feel free to dislike. It is a relatively obscure GB game, and it is a little silly. I like the music in the game, though I've never played it. You're probably better off playing 3D World or something more modern anyway.
This was the first video game I ever played. A friend had gotten this cool new gameboy thing, and I'd been jealously watching him for a while. When she noticed, his mom made him give me a go. He was on the whale, where you go inside it and it's kind of fleshy and disgusting. I died to the first enemy because he never told me how to jump. I eventually got a gameboy, and this game. To this day, I consider it one of the greatest platformers out there.
First Mario game I owned as a kid (aside from NES Mario) was pretty damn awesome.

I remember seeing my mother and sisters trying their best to beat the stage, and inevitably asking me to beat it for them. Those were the days. XD

The Moon area was my favorite area from Super Mario Land 2! I loved the fact that in order to get there, you had to ride in a bubble blown by a hippo and hit the upper exit lol!
But this bubble blowing animal is also known as a hippopotamus.
Not as catchy as Star Maze (what is?), which plays in the same world, but still a memorable and playful little theme. I feel like this game truly deserves a remake, it's my favorite 2D Mario Land game. The worlds were quite varied and I loved how most of them were unique, it wasn't just a fire world, an ice world, a forest world, etc. Giant Mario robot world was especially memorable.
Nintendo is just sitting on a pile of ideas just begging to be made.
SD, have you heard of a game called Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer for the DS and SNES? It's probably one of the greatest obscure games I've played; with how good it is, it's sad how I've never heard anything about it. I don't want to reveal too much about it, but it's a tough roguelike where if you die once, you have to start the game from the _very beginning_, so it may not appeal to you. But, if you're okay with that mechanic, the game is very intriguing: because of its blend of art, story, and even its gameplay mechanics, the game feels real. Sadly, its most disappointing trait is its soundtrack.
I have the cartridge for SML. It was on the short side, but it was one of my more favorite Mario titles. I haven't played this game yet. However, I do have Gold Status on Club Nintendo. I think I know which game i'll be getting for free ;)
