I didn't even played this game but I'm getting the vibes of it and its theme"s vibes as a car enthusiast. I only experienced GT4 a lot of years later in 2018 by PCSX2, but it was also awesome. Wish we had this game series on PC.
I realized something GT4 also used this version, just add some orchestra + opera in the intro

unfortunately the best soundtrack for this game is in the the japanese version!
This is actually an arrangement of a song called "Knight's Song" by the band T-square. T-Square has created several official themes for Japan's F-1 racing events. I highly suggest checking them out if you like this.

This was the best opening for a racing game ever...I never understood why they removed this from the North American opening theme...

The nostalgia! I'm not one for racing games these days, but when I was a kid, I loved pretty much every game I played, and this was no exception. Such an amazing song.

I've never heard this before, and I must have played hundreds of hours of GT... it's fucking amazing! (it sounds very... Japanese, don't know how else to say it) Why they ever removed this, I have no idea; even moreso if it's so central the series.
It's appearing in all versions of the upcoming GT Sport.
I think its in them all, usually played in the credits for completing the final race series or at least included in the music list if you go to the sountrack menu
i just noticed the theme of moon related songs followed by sun related songs... clever man.
Don't forget "Kiss You Goodbye (Japanese Version)", It's also amazing!

The song's by an actual Japanese band, T-Square, and Japan is _notoriously_ fiendish and picky with music rights, which is why a lot of series tend to get instrumental versions of songs overseas if not replace them entirely. "Moon Over the Castle" is one of many casualties as a result unfortunately.
Trying to get my first driver's license as a 12 year old kid was maddening. I never recovered
I have never been a fan of GT. I like racing games, but they have to be unrealistic. This is however, fabulous music

I've played every GT game since GT3, but never had the chance to go back and play the first two. The soundtracks were mostly hit-or-miss for me, but this track is pretty nice. It actually sort of sounds like what I'd expect to hear during a finale boss battle in a Final Fantasy game...

Finally some more love for the Gran Turismo soundtrack! Been waiting a while for this! The Gran Turismo 4 version in my opinion is the best though, even though they are all good. You should check out more tracks from the newer ones (beyond 2)!
i personally like the GT5 version best, but this theme is certainly amazing and i'm really glad it finally made it on the list, such an inspiring song!!!
I remember the first Gran Turismo game. That was my childhood. This needs to be released on the PlayStation 3 for PSN in the PS1 Classics section.

Never listened to the japanese soundtrack since I played the european version of the game... Some nice hours of racing that was. Would have been even better with this track.

The first Gran Turismo is also easily the one I played most from this great racing sim series. Moon Over The Castle is the series' main theme, having made appearances in all the games so far (at least in Japan). Classic theme for a classic series. This game really blew me away back then.
I have GT 3 for the PS2. GT is actually my second favorite racing series behind the Mario Kart series. I had a lot of fun with the third game. I absolutely love this song. I really need to listen to more music from this series.
@Eric C. pick up gt4 on the cheap, gt3 was seriously lacking in content since it was rushed due to early release of ps2 while the devs were trying to make gt3 for the PS1
@bulbinking I will see if I can find it somewhere since I enjoyed GT3. It might have to wait until I get some replacement PS2 controllers since i do not have any working controllers.
I loved the soundtrack from the first game. Especially a song where the lyrics "lets go race" or something like that.
Have you checked out anything by the band T-Square? The guitarist from this song is in that band and it's pretty great. Super cheesy Japanese fusion.
