I loved this tune ever since I first played the game -anyone know the country/culture this music is supposed to be imitating? Is it Greek?
It does have a somewhat Byzantine/Turkish sound with a bit of Latin American flair, especially towards the end. Maybe a bit of Peruvian influence there.

This game may have been absolutely mediocre, but they made the locals incredibly comfortable. It's odd how nice and relaxing these villages are in these supposed wartime.

Mediocre may be the exact wrong word to use here; I would call the game very "polar". On one hand, the first three chapters are phenomenal and I actually could not put my controller down while doing them, proving worthy of Suikoden expectations. The final 2 chapters? Clunky, flawed, and anticlimactic, despite the decent character development of a few of the central characters. Not to mention it is a total grindfest.

Great game and soundtrack. Suikoden II is said to be the best in the series, but i liked this one and even the first game a lot more.
Love it! Reminds me a lot of 2, I've only played 1 and 2...gotta say they are two of my favourite games. Also, they are upwards of £200 for the two of them, as they are really rare on disc. Suikoden 2 music is amazing

I would like to play another "good" Suikoden game that continues the saga properly. I was disappointed with 4, 5 (was there a 6?) and the DS version. probably impossible at this point. I still have my 'save game' for this straight from the first one.
I was disappointed in 4 but I did like 5, there is no 6th one and the DS one wasn't good at all imo. I think 2 was the best in the series.
Yes, number 2 was definitely the best. I wish they would release it on the Playstation Store.

My favorite suikoden song. My favorite memory is playing it when my tabletop RPG group had a tavern party after an epic quest. Perfect fit.
One of my favorite PS2 RPGs. I remember reading the IGN review (9.4) back then and being very excited for it. It delivered thanks to its awesome cast of varied characters, fast battle system and memorable soundtrack. The intro and its theme is probably my favorite in a video game after the first Wild Arms'.
I bought this game without prior knowledge to the first two, partly because of the cover and I loved JRPG's at the time. I wanted to try them all. It was good, not great. The Wild Arms series, on the other hand...what can I say? I will never regret buying Wild Arms 2 brand new in the summer of 2000.
