I remember playing this game thanks to PS plus. I played all a week-end. It was a good experience. Everytime I heard his soundtrack I think " Man buy this game discounted and play it again"

God, I loved this game. One of my favorite parts of games is teh soundtrack adn this had it in SPADES ROYAL FLUSH SPADES!!!! Teh story and mechanics were pretty good too. But one of my favorite things to do in teh game was just go to teh sandbox, sit back adn put on my favorite record... it was relaxing and nice. ESPECIALLY when you held the hum button.
Why is that androgenous character in possession of what looks like a cross between the Soul Edge and a microchip?

Amazing OST to an amazing game. I really feel it's superior to Bastion in every way, even though I absolutely loved that game. The combat really has more depth to it with "functions" (think of them as spells or abilities) that can be used as either passives, actives, or upgrades to other functions. And of course the art nouveau style is so gorgeous and something I've never seen in video games. I also like the way they handled defeat in this game. Having your health reduced to 0 doesn't end the game, it removes one of your functions for a few encounters which I found very interesting since it forces you to vary your playstyle. However it's still possible to die, especially if you crank up the difficulty with "limiters", which are handicaps of sorts, like the shrines from Bastion. All in all I can't recommend this game enough. :)

While Bastion's combat was fairly simple action-RPG stuff, Transistor's combat is much more complex. They kept all the great stuff from Bastion, like the soundtrack, voicework, and hand-painted graphics, and put it on top of game mechanics that force you to think about what you'll do before you do it, and to experiment with all your skills.
Transistor's combat suffers greatly from imbalance though. In general, you will always need to have a convert skill up, a cloak skill, and some cookie-cutter way of dealing damage during turns. I actually feel Bastion had more variety in combat than Transistor, because you didn't have the time-freeze mechanic, which is cool, but ultimately destroys any hope of having varied balanced gameplay.
@Sir Lintalot I think your balance assessment of combat in Transistor is pretty awful tbh. There are quite a few ways to go through the game with pretty minimal threat, even with limiters on.
@totlyepic Comically enough, I went to play it a bit more, did some of the backdoor challenges, and found out about 3 other ways I had not thought about before. So I kinda got to prove myself wrong just after writing that :p Guess I just was too fond of ranged artillery to see other tactics. Still think the whole time-freeze thing gets a bit tedious, as the game really is balanced based on it being used a lot, but not as much as I originally said. Still prefer Bastion when all is said, but I guess I was harsher than I should have been.
@Sir Lintalot There are builds that work really well for no Turn() runs too, but your choices (as far as being reasonably effective) are much narrower there.
I actually barely have any idea what this game is. I only watched the reveal trailer a while ago and the gameplay seemed quite unique. I'm not the biggest Bastion fan to be honest, and I can already say I prefer this game's setting. Audiovisual presentation will probably be top notch once again, I just hope it doesn't suffer from the "style over substance" problem I felt Bastion had (and I know most people would disagree with me here!). Looking forward to playing it, for sure.
I liked the combat in Transistor (but I also liked it in Bastion). I had big concerns from the reveal trailer that the combat would not be very deep in Transistor, but it surprised me. I felt like the plot was pretty lacking, though. Soundtrack is good but doesn't take center stage like in Bastion; the tracks fit well in the background but are mostly forgettable on their own. There are a few exceptions (like this one) though.
From the little I've seen, the story looks good, the soundtrack looks great, the graphics look amazing, and the gameplay looks... Bland. Sure, I was hyped for that time-stop feature, but it looks like a generic action RPG. Though, I have heard good things about it, so I might get it during a sale...
@Mdude360 Its pretty awesome, its actually more of a strategy RPG than action RPG, as the time stop makes it basically a turn based RPG
