i've always hated this tune since kart 64. i don't know why.. it just annoys me..maybe because i thought the snes kart's rainbow road music was perfect

I find it amusing all the people whining that this isn't as good as the original. As someone who was around when the game came out and played the ever loving shit out of it, I can appreciate this remix and enjoy it. The addition of real instruments to the otherwise familiarity of the song is a nice thing. Beautiful even.

I always loved this song, and they kept the essence of the original song! I was sad when they remixed it in MKDD, but I admit that that version grew on me. Still, this one is the one I grew up with, which makes this nostalgia overload, lol, and will be my most favorite RR sound track ever. I want this game now, damn it!

Truthfully, I prefer the original version of the song, despite not really playing Mario Kart 64 before. But I'm psyched for this game and being able to race at this course would be amazing! Edit: Ah, I see it now. I prefer Flute/Piano over Trumpet/Guitar. That's why I like the original better.
The song reminds me a bit of the jackson's can you feel it
This theme is so monumental, and they remixed it very well! When you arrive at this stage in the original its like a great fanfare to all the greatness that is mario kart 64 and the path that has taken you there. with all the characters shown around the map its like a big tribute to the entire mario kart series, despite being only the seconde game at the time!
The most exciting looking one yet and they use the dullest Rainbow Road of all.

Ever since I saw rainbow road 64 in MK8, I was always looking forward to here the music from it. This is better than I expected.

I am not usually nostalgia blinded, but I must say, this doesn't even come close to the magic and wonder of the original.
Please, the original one sounds so bland compared to this remix.
@Tepig The F-Zero X version is still the best Rainbow Road theme.
I still find the N64 version to be my favorite of all.then again i was a 90's kid.
I can't even accept MK8's variant as N64 Rainbow Road, it's too much different. But the music is amazing, trumpets amazing and etc.
@MasterZhaituki Yeah, they really did change quite a bit, and I wish they kept it 3 laps, or at least made it 2 laps like Wario Colosseum, but still, the track is really pretty and they did a good job modernizing it. I see this more of an evolution of the N64 Rainbow Road, rather than a true retro track, like the other ones they've done. Maybe they'll remake it again in a future MK and have both the evolution and an updated version of N64 RR, like if they made two sets of tracks, a classic set like MKDD and before, and futuristic tracks like MK8 and after. They probably won't have the memory capacity to do that for a couple generations, but that would make for a really interesting lineup of tracks in, say, MK11.

I hope you know that this is what the 3ds version originated off of... 3ds is it's own song but it has certain parts of the song in there ( not to mention that most of the new stages in Mario kart 7 have music from N64 Mario kart .... Soo explain what was wrong with this song considering it makes Mario kart 7s rainbow road?
I'm slightly disappointed by the dominance of the trumpets or whatever that is, compared to the original. It's still one of my favorite track themes ever though.
Same here If it was going to be dominantly trumpets , I would've expected some early chords in the song too but as is carries on u gotta admit that make the song which is cool to me ( not to mention the trumpet didn't overplay and shiggity)

This sounds more like the end theme to a snazzy buddy copy show from the 80's then what I remember of Rainbow Road. This isn't doing it for me, I'm pretty sure the game won't either.

The Wii U bundle with this game should be enough for me to buy the console, though I do wonder if I should wait a bit and see what Nintendo does at E3. It's not like I don't already have tons of games in my backlog! I briefly listened to this game's soundtrack and find it alright, but not outstanding (though the live instruments are top notch). It'll probably have to grow on me. Some of the remixes like this one are quite awesome, sticking close to the original while adding just enough new elements and, of course, the much better sound quality.

This remix is absolutely awesome. This song will always have a special place in my heart as my favorite Rainbow Road song in the series. I am so psyched for this game to come out.

I've never been a fan of Kart's OST in general, just a couple of select songs from each game, but damn those few are excellent.
I'm planning on getting the bundle. Looking forward to this game, and of course my club nintendo freebie. :)

They won't be at E3 this year, they're doing an online broadcast June 10th.
I'm also planning to wait to see what they do at E3 this year. I hope they make a Wii U bundled with a Pro controller, and maybe better yet a bundle with Super Smash Bros. U! I'd totally hold off on the Wii U for that bundle if that happens! (Even without the pro controller)
