I need to play this game, microsoft gave it out for free on xbone back on new years 2016 and I never touched it
I've rented/owned this game at so many points in my life that it pains me to say that I've never finished it. Three Xbox 360s have broken before I've finished this game, and it really hurts because I've loved every minute of it. I never want to give Microsoft money for the possibility of more disappointment (seriously, fuck red rings), and this game is a huge part of that. If this were ever ported, I'd buy 20 copies of it just so I could finally have peace in knowing I could complete it. Such a great game.

This game is still absolutely fantastic, I feel like the extremely tough second boss fight probably turned a lot away as it did me when I first started but wow.. The pace and the atmosphere was fantastic.. This soundtrack has a very Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9 vibe to it.. And those dream sequences were absolutely heart wrenching.. So beautifully written too.

This was easily one of the best rpg's that I've played in quite sometime. I personally think the main story was great as well as the dream sequences. It is definetly worth a play through. you will not be disappointed.
Just out of curiosity: does anyone know if the main character is Native American, or some other ethnic group? I'm not asking because it's bad, a Native American main character is rarely used - a main character other than Caucasian is even more scarce in the video game industry.
A Thousand Years of Dreams is really well made and written, but the presentation sometimes isn't. I remember have some problems to read parts of the text with the (sometimes) colorful background
I have so much respect for Uematsu. He is easily one of the best composers of the last 20+ years and one of my all time favorites. His range is absolutely incredible. I may or may not get a 360 any time soon, but I would get this game. I have not listened to this soundtrack yet, but I will get to it some time.
The first JRPG I played on the last generation of consoles is also my favorite (and no, I haven't played Xenoblade yet!). This was the game that scratched my Final Fantasy itch, obviously thanks to Sakaguchi and Uematsu who were behind it. The graphics blew me away back then (remember the introduction scene transitioning to a controllable battle?) and they're still great. The music is one of my favorites by Uematsu, it pulls off some great nostalgic chords. The main story was alright, but was completely overshadowed by the amazing dream sequences. They're so well written, emotional and memorable that I'd recommend just watching them all here on YouTube if you don't think you'll ever play the game. The dreams are mini-stories featuring the main character who is immortal, during his years that took place before the game. Extremely recommended.
They did that awesome introduction scene transitioning to a controllable battle and then they had a really long load time for youre boat to go underwater,i think i only went underwater 5 times becuse of that. Also i always wondered what would the game's story be like if it was writen by the author of the short stories.
