This is honestly just about the only good track in X/Y. Coming from the awesome Gen 5 soundtrack it was very disappointing.
Completely agreed! I thought the Gen 6 soundtrack was incredibly lame with the exception of this track and the Diantha fight theme. Gen 6 in general just feels incredibly meh. Kalos is occasionally cool looking, but actually travelling across it is surprisingly boring, not least of all because of how mind-dullingly easy they made all the combat. I don't need a massive challenge, but when I can beat every single "boss" battle first try without loosing any Pokemon, grinding, or even optimizing my team in any way (and considering I've always been pathetic at these games) the game's too easy. It's a real downgrade considering how great Black and White (both 1 and 2) were. Sun and Moon are looking great, though. Hopefully they don't disappoint.

I don't know about anyone else, but Pokémon is one of those series where you don't really expect the music to be all that good... except practically every entry has tons of catchy - if repetitive - themes in it, and a handful of standouts. Come to think of it, are there _any_ games that are truly good in spite of poor music? Almost every awesome game I can think of also has great music. Although I can think of a few crappy games with excellent soundtracks. Also, just for sheer nostalgia's sake, and out of deference to the part of my inner child that is still a massive Pokémaniac, it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside to know that the series is still relevant and going strong. Even if I _do_ think that mega-evolution (and now this primal reversion crap) jumped the shark somewhat.
How is this from a Pokemon game!? This defies everything I've ever heard from a Pokemon game.
I don't know why every track from this game gives me nostalgia but they all do. This game is literally perfect.

I don't know why I got a Donkey Kong Country 3 vibe from the first couple seconds of this track.
The thing I have with this soundtrack is that all the songs take a while to get started. Prime example is the gym leader theme.
My problem with the Gym Leader theme was that it felt like it was always trying to get started, but just never does.
Great theme for great power plant (if only it would had any pokemon), and yeah, these all Twitch plays are crazy ;p
The French theme of the new generation was interesting, and the music was not bad at all either. Unfortunately, I felt that I my expectations for this generation simply were not met. The game's features were not up to the standards they could be. -It is still a very tedious game to play if you want a Pokemon team to your exact needs. The IV's and EV's are not easily displayed, and the Pokemon breeding process was almost not described at all. -The Pokemon themselves were not balanced well: The mega-evolutions brought in a mechanic that made it so you had to choose particular Pokemon to compete. There was only one new poison type? -The battles are slower than they should be, which adds up if you battle often. -The character customization is worse and more generic than the first Sims. -The battle music itself is mind-numbingly repetitive and only changes on special occasions. -Every Pokemon is not readily available through these two games, and some of them are only available through the friend safari, which is just the developers way of involving people you meet on your DS. -The story and plot layout has not changed much at all. You still go through the same process, to go to the same place. It is like they made this game so similar to the first generation on purpose, just so Nintendo fans can remain in their nostalgic bubble. -While I appreciate the Pokemon being represented in 3D models and having unique animations (which turned out pretty damn awesome), I don't understand why they did not innovate just as much to the entire game itself.
- I believe that to be a deliberate choice by Nintendo and GameFreak. Not to say that you're wrong to be concerned about it, but I've felt for the longest time that they wanted this kind of data to be discovered, rather than simply displayed. That being said, even with Super Training (and by extension, Super Training's cutting of the original max 255 EV limit to 252 for the sake of convenience), that kind of info should at least be somehow indicated more clearly in-game, so we wouldn't need someone to pick the system apart and have to make a calculator for all the guess work. - You stated that the issue was that you have to pick certain Mega Evolutions to be competitive. I feel that the real issue is that you have to have one at all. Even though Mega Evolutions add quite an interesting mechanic to the game, seeing as only a handful of Pokemon can use it, my concern even when they went through the details was that team comps would be based around said Mega Evolution, rather than being solely a preference. - I can't really comment on slower battles, as I haven't really noticed. - I find this to be fair enough, considering everything else that makes these versions different from Gen 5, and the fact that it's on the 3DS. One would assume that the next generation (because we all know there will be one) will expand on the customization features. I would hope so, as the only gripe my friend and I have is that we can't actually remove our hats. - The music was pretty hit-or-miss overall. Props to the devs for trying to mix it up a bit, though. That being said, I have to wonder why they removed the popular critical-hp track. - I don't entirely see anything wrong with this, as that has always been their intent. Even in Gen 1, there were Pokemon that were on one version but not the other, encouraging you to trade with others. But on the note of Pokemon availability, I have to say that I'm somewhat disappointed with Pokemon Bank/Transporter, seeing as the interface requires the D-Pad instead of the stylus (lolwut), and the BIGGEST issue of having to go through asinine hoops just to transfer from previous generations. - It's pretty much a given at this point. It's hard to decide whether Nintendo is either playing it safe, or just being...Nintendo. - I can't comment on innovation because I'm not sure what you mean by it. How do you feel they could innovate the current formula, as far as the 3D models go? (I'd rather not assume you're referring to the previous points.)

A very good game with a very good soundtrack. There are many good songs in X/Y. Some of my personal favorites are the Champions Theme and Routes 15 and 18.
I'm so happy they released this soundtrack on iTunes. I didn't care for this particular track that much, but X/Y has a ton of good music.

sorry Supra, but this track is VERY unmemorable. There's better tracks in the game.. which you'll find out later since u havent even played the game yet. sometimes i think ur list should be named "average VGM xxx"

This track isn't bad. But he has a point. I've been ploughing through this list, and to be honest, a *lot* of the tracks are "generic RPG track 9,368,201". There's simply too much on here that sounds just like the last track. I've used the "skip" button way too much. Buried in here are some legendary tracks, like "Gothic Neclord". There are, however, many, many more tracks that aren't even good, let alone "best VGM". Subjective, as is all opinion.
I was at that stream for a while; it took 30 minutes or so just to buy pokeballs at the Cerulean mart. But gosh darn it, we got it done.
Oh hell yes. The one song that stuck out to me playing this.
This song sounds so mysterious, so modern, and it's so mesmerizing... It's as if it's a beautiful combination of sounds that have never been present in a Pokemon game before... It's always great listening to this!
The best X and Y track in my opinion is "Lysandre's Theme" give it a listen

One of my 2014 gaming resolutions was to get back into Pokemon, which I haven't played since Ruby 10 years ago (wow, time flies). I ordered Pokemon Y this morning and I'm looking forward to it. Speaking of Pokemon, there's currently a stream on Twitch.tv where people in chat (about 20,000 right now) control the game with chat inputs. It's pretty crazy, though they've been stuck for 5+ hours because of a ledge they keep jumping. Fun stuff!

@mijumaru97 Nope you missed it, we owned this trainer on the Route before we died (and had to restart at Cerulean). Pidgeotto had like 15 HP and we just gusted evrynyan. WAS EPIC.

@XenolinkAlpha Not f*cking way! Really? I guess they can really screw the game over if they release their best pokemons. And I heard the Safari part will be next to impossible because of a certain 500 steps limit. I'll be damn impressed if they manage to get through the game. I would guess it will take over a month of gameplay to get there though...
