One of the best title themes. It always manages to bring a smile to my face when I hear it.
Also my favorite 2D platformer. Still can't believe that some people hate it just because of the way Baby Mario cries. As you said, it brings additional tension to a very clever "health system" (those stars depleting, which are also part of your overall score, it's simply brilliant).

I like the DS game quite a bit, but most people kinda hate it. It is NOWHERE near as good as the first game, neither is the soundtrack. The level design, I've realized, is really awkward.
Awesome! I've only played Yoshi's Island DS though... I'm not sure if it's just as good as this or not. This theme gives me a little kick in the nostalgia, I remember leaving it on the Title Screen and then hearing the music play for the first time, then quickly rushing to tell my sister about it.
More than that though, it's not available to everyone, because not everyone bought their 3DS before the price drop, so hopefully, the Wii U is able to handle Mode 7 so they can finally let everyone in general enjoy one of the greatest 2D Mario games of all time.
Love this game and still replay it regularly. Always skip the bonus content though -- waaay too frustrating to get to the end of the level and find you missed one red coin. :/
I really like the music in this game, but not as much as the original. It's still a very solid soundtrack, but I just feel that SMW had a better feel in terms of how timeless the music is and how it holds a special place in my heart as my favorite 2D Mario Soundtrack from Kondo. SMW also holds a special place in my heart as my first 2D Mario game that I ever owned.
My 2nd favorite video game of all time. Also has my favorite (and argubly) best Final Boss music ever made. Glad to see this game make your top 10.
I was delighted when they included it in the Ambassador Program for 3DS. It's not the original version but, close enough.

My favorite 2D Mario soundtrack from Kondo, he composed some of the most memorable and hummable themes for this game with the underground theme being my favorite (flower garden, athletic, touch fuzzy, castle... all amazing). I have a lot of nostalgia for this game, but it's still today my favorite 2D platformer. Graphics are timeless and the amount/variety of levels is perfect. Baby Mario's cry is annoying, but it really adds to the urgence of trying to get him back before he gets kidnapped!
