The best song of this song is probably the water level. You should listen to this.
For a game starring cute ball-shaped rabbits with flowers, this game's environments are surprisingly dreary, like a sunblasted desert landscape. The song itself isn't wistful and innocent like a Kirby soundtrack, but determined in the face of insurmountable odds. Monochrome certainly doesn't help. A quick look at the plot summary implies that the effect is intentional. Odd little game, from watching a playthrough of it.

This game is bizarre. Super-easy, very few enemies. Feels almost incomplete. I like the end credits theme.

The three white creatures look like Rabites from Secret of Mana.
I haven't played this game, for some reason it's on the 3DS VC in Japan and Europe but not in North America. Matsumae's the composer (she made the music for the first Mega Man) and also for a new video game that's been funded in 24 hours called Mighty No. 9 from Inafune, the creator of Mega Man! It's a side-scroller in the same vein as MM, I'm excited.
Four years have passed, and we now know of how well this turned out... heh...
