I don't think the instruments sound similar in any way, Undertale is resolutely more modern, there's very little chiptune...but the melody inspiration is there.

I mean, they're really different games. Earthbound is a traditional turn based RPG, while Undertale is turn based bullet hell. Undertale is great because of how dense the narrative content is, and how much it responds to player input. Earthbound is great because it has interesting aesthetics and music and a solid RPG story, especially for the time it was released. One does not devalue the other. And I understand why you brought up the Call of Duty thing, but that has absolutely zero relevance in this conversation.

I never got mother 3 spoiled for me and I extremely enjoyed the ending. It gave some closure and what happened to the world after was up to you. It didnt feel lazy because you know that you still won and defeated the antagonist at the end while bringing the other person (that I will not name) some peace after they regained their senses

Better yet, play Tomato's MOTHER 1 + 2 fan translation. Sure, the music is slightly worse, but the translation is MUCH better and there's also an option for less difficulty in the form of an equippable Easy Ring. Really the definitive version of the game, hands down.

Meh, I guess I'd rather just try the mod on the save file. The save file's no use anyway, since I'm stuck on it unless I decide to grind for a while.
I'm sorry, but I don't know. But I would assume not? you could always make another save and try the mod on the other save file just to test it out.
I've got a quick question: I'm playing Mother and I've got a save file(stuck at Magicant, the battles are agonizing!), and I'd love to install that mod, but I don't want to loose my save file. Will the mod remove the save files? Will it just do nothing to them? Or do you know the answer?

Make sure you play it with the demiforce hack. I don't usually condone making games easier, however it reduces the amount of ridiculous enemy encounters and gives you more EXP to shorten the amount of grinding needed.
Has anyone heard the previews for Mother 4's soundtrack? Pretty good stuff.
Of course it is, it's the first installment. But it really is quite similar to EarthBound (Mother 2). Although their storylines are similar, EarthBound to me is the more superior. Its controlling and everything is better, and it's easier (Mother 1 was originally VERY challenging and required lotsa grinding). Even though EB has grinding and stuff, it's still easier. I recommend it for the novice Mother player. :) Hope that sells ya, if you were thinking of buying it :)

Mother 2 is called Earthbound in EU and US. U can buy it from Wii U virtual console shop.| I think its the best in the series, but that is offcourse up to debate.
MOTHER was released in Japan only for the NES. The second game in the series is known as MOTHER2 in Japan, but EarthBound in North America because it was the first MOTHER game released there. MOTHER3 was released in Japan only on the GBA, but there's an excellent fan translation online that can allow you to play the game fully in English using an emulator.
Wii U - Mother Trilogy. All of my money. Hell, bundle THAT with a Wii U and sales should pick up in a flash(specially considering the EShop Wii U version sold very well).

Did you know that fans are making a mother 4? It looks pretty good so far and the music is nice too. Just search for the channel mother4team and you'll find it. Its unofficial so it will be free.

Super nostalgic theme. I tried a NES emulator for the first time when I learned that this game existed, I was still pretty new with computers back then so it was quite the challenge to make it work. It was in japanese since the translation wasn't out yet, but simply seeing the title screen pop out with this theme playing made me overly excited. This music playing near the end of Mother 3 was also a great moment.
