I found this a bit to repetitive to play all at one time. I got partway through the seashore before I saw how many floors I still had left to go, and decided to take a break. Still, it was a fun game, and I think I'll go back and finish it someday.
Apparently I was one of the few that liked this one over the first one, to me there is a lot more to do and all of it is well done. I do like the georama of the first one a bit better.
I really love this game, the Dark Cloud series one of the best dungeon-crawling RPGs to grace the PS2
I personally prefer the first game for the atmosphere brought by the soundtrack which, in my opinion, surpasses the sequel. DC2 however is as you say a lot more polished than its predecessor and it offers much more in terms of gameplay and dynamics, though its soundtrack is rather weak and falls in repetitiveness pretty quickly. Not to mention the fact that the released OST sounds one step higher than in-game without the background ambiance, which is shamefully a pretty empty experience.
Damn, I still haven't gotten this game. I think this music might have been from the section in the demo I played of Dark Cloud 2.
Just echoing what everyone else has said, but amazing game, definitely one of the best on ps2.
Oh man I love this game so much. I put a good 100 hours into this. I wish Level 5 would make a sequel. Or at least port this to the PS Vita. I'd even pay $50 again. Great great game.

This game was pretty damn amazing. I easily put in 60 or 70 hours into it. The music is beautiful. My only real complaint was that I felt the story was portrayed a bit moire childishly than the first one.
I remember Orphen! God that game was so weirdly bad! But now when I play it I actually really appreciate it's unique battle system and overall gameplay. Also the atmosphere was pretty good imo. I feel like if it had some more polish it could have been legitimately good!

From every RPG to shooter to even board games, this is my favorite game of all time and I will never get rid of my copy of this game. My childhood is revived everytime I play this game. Thank you Supradarky

It seems to me that with RPG soundtracks, the Forest Themes are the best tunes. I have a long... list of Forest themes I really enjoy.

Every single tune from this game reminds me of the time I spent playing it with a close friend of mine. She's moving across the country soon, so those memories are becoming all the more precious.

Oh man, sooo soo good! I've played through this game... so many times. The soundtrack was *spot on* for the steampunk/fantasy/sci-fi setting.

While I agree with the awesomeness of Dark Cloud. Dark Cloud 2.... was absolutely my favorite. And you know what is funny that you post this now... I just finished my LP episodes of Forest of Rainbow Butterflies on my channel for this game! xD Its weird how you start doing stuff like that and a bunch of your favorite places / people post / do stuff about it! Oh i loved this game as a kid. I remember having it on my PS2 and i had no memory card so every night i played it i just played to see how far i could get without saving. I always got a little bit further. That were the good old days. Must have been 9 years ago. But damn i loved the game so bad even tho i never finished it. And the music have always been stuck in my head since then. Such a lovely soundtrack and such an awesome atmosphere in the game. Thanks for uploading this!

Dark Cloud was awesome! It totally had some of the most fitting tunes in gaming IMO :)
Funny how I somehow preferred the first game, even if Dark Cloud 2 is way more polished. It probably has to do with DC being one of the first great games I played on the new generation, following a mediocre launch lineup of RPGs (Orphen anyone?). This game's cel shaded graphics aged very well, I must say. Oh and another soundtrack with unlooped ~1 min tracks, I hate that!
