1. My favorite game in the series is a tie between DKC 2 and DKC 3 on GBA, for the sake of nostalgia. 2. I'd say my favorite theme in the series, as of right now, is Nuts and Bolts from the GBA version of DKC 3. That track has such a cool vibe! 3. I've never actually played Donkey Kong 64. I'll have to try it some time. 4. My favorite Kong has to be Dixie as well. You just can't deny, that hair has some serious power!
The GBA version of DKC 3 is FAR superior to it's SNES counterpart. David Wise SERIOUSLY rocked the GBA with the re-worked soundtrack!

1) 2 is my favorite but unlike most fans its closely followed by 3. What can I say, I'm a fan of gimmicky levels 2) Either, Hot Head Bop, Stickerbrush Symphony, or Gang Plank Galleon 3) Not really, I love the Banjo Kazooie series but it just feels wrong and clunky when put in this game and with the Kongs. Even Kirkhopes (a composer a dearly love) score just doesnt feel right for me 4) Dixie! Though I do very much love Diddy
1. Donkey Kong Country Returns is the only one that I have played, so I guess that one wins by default. 2. My favorite DKC theme is, without a doubt, the rocket barrel theme from DKCR. I have to actually disagree with you about DKCR's soundtrack. I find many of its themes to be highly enjoyable and extremely memorable, such as the rocket barrel, the mine cart, Tidal Terror, the Mole Train, the music level from the factory, and the Tikis' intro themes. 3. I've never played it. 4. No one can compare to the snide remarks courtesy of my dear Cranky Kong.
1: DKC2, has best presentation 2: The intro music to DKC1 3: I played it and enjoyed it a lot, but hated the characters besides diddy and donkey. 4: Diddy How do you feel about diddy kong racing? I think it's the best kart racer because of it's hard difficulty, 3 vehicles, exploration type gameplay, multileveled powerups and that let go of accelerate to get more boost mechanic. Also bosses in a racing game? Wow.

1. Donkey Kong Country 3. I played that one first, and I have fond memories of it. I think that DKC3 has more variety than DKC2 and DKC1, and a superb OST. 1. Tough one. I think I have to go with Donkey Kong Country Returns with the first Donkey Kong country for the SNES as a strong runner-up. What a bunch of awesome games and memories! 2.Donkey Kong Country - Fear Factory (SNES) Amazing ambiance. Although there are so many great ones. The Aquatic Ambiance theme is really soothing too. 3.No, it sucked donkey balls. 4.Cranky Kong! I want to be a bitter smart-ass when sitting on all the important answers in life, Whipper-snappers!
The point is that DK64 is like a Banjo Kazooie game instead of a DKC game. It's not that DKC-ish, despite the obvious influences. But it also depends on your preference. N64 platformers tended to not have much platforming, you know? There was more exploring and problem solving with big open worlds instead of any challenging jumps. The game that started it, Super Mario 64, had the most platform-y level design. (example: tick tock clock) I love DK64 anyways though.

I didn't play it much as a kid, but I revisited it recently and found little compulsion to continue playing it. It did feel like a not-as-good Banjo Kazooie. 4. Apart from the amazing graphics that holds well also today (not a common thing speaking of N64), I found it very fun to play. But I've to say that I always play with it without trying to collect everything, so I didn't lose my mind in some painfully hard bonus games and stuff... Obviously, I didn't like the soundtrack, coming from the DKC series I had some expectations... 4. Donkey Kong. The tie!!!

1. I've only beaten the first DKC, but I actually like DKC2 more. 2. Honestly, I can't choose, but I will say that DKC2 has the perfect soundtrack. Every track is just amazing (from Stickerbrush to the volcano to Forest Interlude to Bayou Boogie...). Very few games have such perfect soundtracks... 3. (The best thing i remember is how deep you get in that one cave in the tower level, where you get deeper and deeper and in the end there is this minecart passage with donkey kong, very dark atmosphere) 4) Cranky

I really like DK 64 a lot too, don't know why that gets bashed by some fans as just a dumb collect-a-thon. The level design was amazing in it and loved getting new powers to use. PLus the multiplayer was a fun time killer. Still remember how epic it felt having to get a new graphics card for my N64 just to play the thing!

Big fan of Gangplank Galleon and Crocodile Cacophony. That said, I don't I heard it until I was about 7 or 8 as I could just never get that far in the game! DKCR rightfully deserves a mention. I think when you've got a nostalgic memory of a game though, nothing is going to top that. My personal favorutie SNES game is A Link To The Past, and I doubt Nintendo will be able to evoke the same feelings of heroism and achievement as when I first beat the Helmasaur King as a five year old!

Yes, I've played it. I bought it on release and marathoned it. Yes, it is plain awful. No, it is not a really fun game and it is not a worthy iteration in the series (nor is it in the series as it uses very different mechanics than the DKC games). Although I wouldn't say it destroys the original series (DKC will always be there to play), I can see what they probably mean, which is this is what new players will think DKC is, and it isn't at all.

1. DKC2 is my favorite. So many hidden goodies! That elevates it above DKC1 in my mind. That, and the superior soundtrack. 2.I actually like Forest Interlude from DKC2 the best. Of course, Aquatic Ambiance, Stilt Village and Water World (both from DKC3 on GBA) and Fear Factory Returns are all amazing themes as well. Can't go wrong with any of those. 3. Not a fan of DK64. It's the prime example of what's wrong with 'collectathons', problems that also appear in Jet Force Gemini and Banjo.

Have you played it? It's definitely not "plain awful". Returns is a really fun game and a worthy iteration in the series. Nevertheless, it is ridiculously overrated, with some people saying it destroys the original trilogy (which makes no sense).
Why would you use something from DKCR to represent DKC?! DKCR is nothing like the rest of DKC, and that goes for its music. DKCR is just plain awful. Ugh.

I agree with DK64. While it was fun in some aspects, I did not enjoy the game as being a very massive collectathon that it was.

Is it true that the first game soundtrack was composed by Fischer/Wise, the second one only by Wise and the third by Fischer ?? I always thought that the 3 games soundtracks was composed by the 2 of them !

DK64 was very enjoyable at times, it had superb level design and dynamic gameplay between different characters and their unique attributes. Too bad it repeated same bosses and mini games over and over again. Weak compared with the SNES cousins, but a rather underrated N64 game in my opinion. 4. DKC2 had the difficulty curve, soundtrack, and creative boss battles the first and third lacked.

1. DKC3 - Most people don't agree, but I thought the game was great. I loved the atmosphere and interactive world. 2. Life in the Mines Returns from DKCR - One of the few times a remix surpassed the original. 3. Yes! - Rare always does a good job with platformers. I'm actually surprised so many people here don't like it. 4. Cranky Kong - DK wouldn't be the same without that angry codger.

1. DKC2. 2. World Map theme from DKC1. 3. I'm a fan of DKC but it's ok. I don't really feel the need to replay it mainly due to how long it can take compared to Banjo Kazooie. Still enjoy it & its soundtrack. 4. Favorite Kongs are Lanky and Chunky. Both of them crack me up (particularly Chunky's idle animation in DK64).

And holy crap, can't wait for Tropical Freeze. Even more now that I hear Wise is composing the soundtrack. Yamamoto unfortunately isn't made for DKC, except for the remixes.

Favourite game in the series is DKC2. Favourite theme is a tie between Stickerbrush Symphony and Enchanted Wood. I liked Donkey Kong 64, but consider it the weakest out of their platforming trinity of with Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. I loved Grant Kirkhope's compositions for the game though. I'm tied for Dixie and Diddy in terms of favourite kong. DKC3 just felt fake in terms of difficulty because of how bulky and slow Kiddy was. Diddy and Dixie had the best chemistry in terms of a duo.

DKC3 does get a lot of undeserved hate. I don't understand all the "light hearted setting" comments. It has some of the darkest levels in the series. What do you think of DK Jungle Beat? I'm currently playing through DKCReturns on the 3ds, and while I love not having to put up with the Wii's wiimote shaking mechanics, I hate how easy it is to accidentally start rolling when I try to bongo the ground or blow on stuff.

Mine Cart Carnage from the classics (although Aquatic Ambience and Stickerbrush Symphony and some others are equally amazing), and Palm Tree Groove is awesome from Returns. 3. I never played DK64 as a kid, and while I love that genre and it has great music, and some good level design, it's a little too tedious and annoying compared to Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie. I don't own a copy though, so I haven't played much. 4. Diddy

1. DKC2 2. Hot Head Bop 3. Moderate. I'll play it again sometime since it's been 10+ years since I last had, but eh. I'd rather replay the first two Country games multiple times. 4. Diddy Kong Wise is coming back? I was excited before, but now I've got hype.... uh oh.
1. Tie between DKC2 (best atmosphere and soundtrack) and DKCR (revived the franchise, great level design) 2. Mining Melancholy 3. Never played it, doesn't interest me enough to play. 4. Donkey Kong. Such a lovable meathead.

1. That's a good question. Its a toss up between DKC1 & 2. If I had to pick probably the first, but they're both amazing. 2. I love Aquatic Ambiance as well. One of my favorite songs is actually the Water World theme from the GBA remake of DKC3. Forest Interlude and Stickerbrush Symphony are fantastic too. 3. I actually have yet to play DK64. I will eventually. 4. Cranky Kong!

And another 100 done! In the video, I mention that DKC is my 2nd favorite platformer series behind Mario, but that's without counting Castlevania which would be my #2. Since half the games are platformers and the other half are metroidvanias, I put that series apart.
