a village that is beyond helping. a village that almost become Tedanki / Theddon Mk ii because continous Automata rampage (the nun died holy shit) an automata that endlessly feeds it's long passing master's bones, and reheating a soup for who knows how many decades / centuries man vii sure is dark.

Tlot Pwist Yeah that was really good scene ,but still the lady warrior ,her brother got betrayed by the town people and got killed by the evil creatures ,and then she selected the evil side for revenge but her hart could not let her kill the women of the village and she was just looking for the truth

TheMostBleedingHeart I disagree. The 3ds one gives a feeling of utter despair and that something sinister happened which I feel fits the game better overall. And the 3ds one is also the official definitive version of the song since itâs based off the symphonic suites which is how the composer wants the ost to really sound like.

@SupraDarky I remember it took my first play (back in 2001 when I was 11) 2 years to beat, half of that gameplay was with a gameshark lol. But it took me only around 30 days to beat in 2011. I was kind of shocked that I remembered the map and where to go lol. But to think it took my first try 2 YEARS lol. I still have the old disc... worth 150 dollars, and never will sell it xD

Persona 3 and 4 reportedly clock in over 100 hours each. I couldn't stand them because of the repetition...
Really? Took me 70 to beat the main campaign, and only after did I start on side quests. Plugged in well over 100 hours by the time I was done. DQVII would almost undeniably be #1 on such a list. I'd really like to know if any game is longer.
This is one of the BEST RPG's that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Like SupraDarky said, some of those stories were SOOOOO well written and they definetly pull at the heart strings big time. To date, this game holds the record for taking the most amount of hours for me to finish it. I believe I finished at 137 hours! This game is amazing! If you've never played it, buckle in for a long and awesome adventure!
I beat Xenoblade in 83 hours but at least 20 of those were taken up by the sidequests. In contrast, I can't see DQVII being beaten any earlier than 80 hours. It's hard to remember if I did any side stuff but I don't recall any.
Hmm...thinking of this and Xenoblade, I wonder what are the longest campaigns in gaming? Not 100% games, but main stories...lord knows this and Xenoblade would probably top the list.
Too bad this game was never released in Europe :( Hope the 3DS version will get an international release.

Such a touching theme I can't wait for the 3DS version of this game because sadly I've never played this one before.
Took me 108 hours to beat this game. The music is tremendously effective (especially this sad piece) but there's so little of it that the repetition becomes a real issue.

It's tracks like these that make me wish I enjoyed JRPGs.
I can't wait to play DQVII. I've played I-IX (minus number VII of course) and have enjoyed my time with every game except for IX. I'd definitely say VIII has my favorite soundtrack. Sugiyama does such an amazing job with his compositions, and he's by far my favorite composer both in video game music and overall.
I beat this last year. Some of the stories are so touching and sad. Check out "With Sadness in Heart" from this ost, which begins with a minor key version of the famous DQ overture.
Won't hesitate to at least look more into the 3DS version whenever it's properly released in the US.
The only Dragon Quest game I've played is DQ9, and, it's... Iritable. I'm halfway through the game and 100 hours in, at least 30 of which was spent grinding.
I really need to delve into this game. I have it sitting on my shelf with the strategy guide, but I haven't gotten around to putting it in =/

Dang! Kudos to Sugiyama! This is amazing. Now I'm looking forward to its release on the 3DS. Info gotten from Gamefaqs. This is pretty beautiful.
This sad theme plays in the towns that are facing different kinds of problems and that you haven't saved yet. Keep being awesome, Sugiyama. He's 82 years old now and still composing for this series.
I completed this game last month (took me 105 hours to max/do everything) and I loved it. I kept pushing the game away because it was intimidating to start playing such a notoriously huge RPG. It's now my third favorite in the series after 5 and 3. It's basically a series of substories and some of them were super well written and memorable, even emotional. Unfortunately, there's some padding that lengthens the game by about 20-30 hours since you basically have to revisit each town/dungeon twice.
