I've listed this for the playlist at my funeral or cremation. To me, it embodies the following: The melancholy of an end coming too soon. Yes, I may have lost the battle, but my spirit remains unbroken. Even while I must now strike the flag, life goes on. To those that stay behind: mourn now for what once was, but focus on what lies ahead.

This is one of those songs that I didn't pay much attention to upon just hearing the first couple of notes. However, when just stopping and listening to the song all the way through, it's amazing. I will never forget my first reaction to hearing the song complete for the first time. Definitely one of the best Game Over/High Score themes I have ever heard. Along with Jim Power and X-Out which, coincidentally are all Amiga games...talk about an insane track record.
Mark Cooksey was great in doing high score tunes on C64. Ghosts 'n Goblins, 1942, Space Harrier - check them out!
Forget about Lady Gaga and whatever the current pop stars are called these days. THIS IS FUCKING MUSIC !!! The in-game tune is also god damn awesome!

I tested this game on WinUAE and the tune played notably faster. What gives? The Genesis version doesn't even compare to this.

Nah, there have been others on the list before. Check out his uploads of Ghouls and Ghosts, Hot Rod and Shadow of the Beast as examples. It would be nice to see some more though, especially Commodore 64 ones.

Yeah, it's free, but there's a version for the DSi out that you need to pay for. And, don't let your guard down on it. It. Is. Hard. I've been playing it for months now and I still haven't gotten past the last level.

Hey, have you heard about a game called Guxt? It was made by the same guy who made Cave Story in 2007, it would be really cool if you uploaded a track from there ;)
This high score theme stuck with me right from the start with its calming notes panning left and right. This is a topdown shooter so it's appropriate to have a more relaxing track while you're checking out the high scores. This game came out for the Genesis as well but I prefer the Amiga music (on the Genesis, this is the Game Over theme).
