+Michael James I wish I couldn't stop playing, but FTL stresses me out so much that I end up feeling worse after I play it than before xD. It's an great game with an awesome soundtrack, its just too stressful for me to handle. I can't deal with rougelike games for some reason, they're too fast-paced and don't give you a break. Except for Pokemon Mystery dungeon.
How can you play so many games? That is just impossible :o
Roguelikes are like this : you basically need some luck to be able to beat them! The gameplay of FTL is very interesting though!

I think 3:27 is EVERYONE's favourite part
I gotta say thqt people greatly exaggerate the role of luck in this game, after around 100 hours of playing, i manage to win about 5 out of 7 games. What people don't get is that it takes a lot of experience just to improve slightly. Still havent gotten that crystal ship though ^.^
My main problem with the game is that the first three sectors are relatively simple (unless you get unlucky), and then the first ship you meet in Sector 4 is just a brick wall that obliterates you.
I really love all the music this game plays to my ears. Especially Engi (Battle) one. It hits you with melancholy after the first minute.

I have played this some and though I don't really like rougelikes, I like this game's style. I almost beat it in fact, it just takes some planning ahead for what you are going for.
Getting a lucky break in this game is so integral to beating it that it's absurd at times. Eventually I stopped caring about beating it and just started playing it to casually amuse myself, which was a lot better. Speaking of luck, have you heard what kind of perfect lucky circumstances it takes to get the Crystal Cruiser? It's fucking insane!
My personal favorite would be Rockmen (Explore). It's so damn catchy once it really starts and it always reminds me of the great era of Square-RPGs.
Also, the final boss music is kickass.
Gameplay can be frustrating at times, but such is the nature of games with Rogue-like elements. The music never fails to remind you that you're in space and that the nearest civilization is probably light-years apart. The best example that invokes a sense of loneliness is the Engi theme.
Unlike TBI where you can rely on your own skill if you're on a run that gives you terrible items, I felt completely powerless in this game when luck just wasn't on my side. I know I'm being quite negative on this game but I still had fun with it, and I realise that most people absolutely love this game (showed up on a lot of 2012 GOTY lists). But yeah, I'd think you guys would rather know my honest opinion. The music? Awesomely atmospheric. 3:27 is my favorite part in this one.
I went in without knowing it was a game with the same structure as The Binding of Isaac, I thought there was a big single player campaign. I know it's the main reason why the game can end up being so addictive and can be played for tons of hours, but (incoming personal opinion) I was disappointed. I've already said I'm not a fan of randomly generated structures. The gameplay itself is super satisfying, which is why I'm willing to keep playing it from time to time.
