Well, as of last year, he's still working on stuff. He did work on a Baroque album back in May.
I have found no information about a heart attack for Mitsuhito Tanaka aka John Pee. VGM databases and game databases do not mention that. But, if you look up John Peel, a completely different person, you will find that English DJ John Peel died of a heart attack back in 2004. So, I assume Mr. Mitsuhito Tanaka aka John Pee is alive and well. That the claim that Mr. Mitsuhito Tanaka aka John Pee died of a heart attack is a case of a mistaken identity via Google search and jumping to conclusions.

This game's soundtrack was composed by a lot of different people, including Hitoshi Sakimoto, but it seems like most of my favorites are the ones composed by Mitsuhito Tanaka. It's too bad he only had a brief passage in the VGM scene, I wonder what he's up to now.
