I've beat this game so many times... I can never get over how truly amazing this game is. The graphics are amazing, the story line is great. The fantasy-based artwork is beautiful, and all the music is from a real symphony, not made with computers. I can't believe that, even after all these years, this game never ceases to amaze me. Konami did a wonderful job when making this one, and I hope to see one just as good as this in the future. The other games are all right, but none can compare. :'D

@AllAboutEights gotta disagree there. it had TWO peaks Castlevania: 8/10 Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest: 6/10 Castlevania 3: 8/10 Super Castlevania 4: 10/10 Castlevania Dracula X: 8/10 Castlevania Bloodlines: 8/10 Castlevania 64: 5/10 Castlevania Symphony of the Night: 10/10.... knock em into groups of four. every 4th game is AMAZING... And one among the group is shit and one of the other three is shit

The music on this game was absolutely incredible, the game itself was as well, and no other Castlevania so far has come close to this I have to say. I remember a week before this game came out, it was talked about in my high school news paper, which was awesome. This music always reminded me of flying around at night, which is something I always often thought about dunno why. My mom thought this one was so beautiful, it now reminds me of how happy she'd get when it played.

IMO, the soundtrack in SoTN was the best one out of all the Castlevanias.... This song should have been in the top 10.
@AllAboutEights I never played 'Symphony of the Night,' but I agree that the original 2D Castlevania games were better than the 3D ones.

this song always maks me think of summer. i remember it was the last day of school for me and i was walking home after taking my finals and when i got inside my house my brother was playing sotn, this song was playing and i thought to myself "holy shit this sounds pretty good". i miss the good old days!!!
@AllAboutEights i agree - but SNES contributed to the SOTN's map (its from Super Metroid blue and red blocks as ur map) SOTN is known as Metroidvania! haha but eitehr way - NES, SNES, SOTN are the last remnants of greatness in the series. the rest on DS looked like Totally Spies anime hhaaha

People nowadays only care about the graphics, they don't know how a good game should be.

It is my favorite game on PSone. And my favorite soundtrack of all the games of PSone. Chrono Cross is beatifull too. But, Castlevania it's perfect in all!

simons quest? according to AVGN it has some really terrible sides, and not only a few of em. im sure there are good points to that title too but... i wouldnt consider it worth it. to me SotN is best ever. tho some recent castlevania titles arent bad either

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the N64 two. I was really disappointed with the jump to 3D, I still don't think they've got it yet. I mean when I played Mario 64, and it was awesome, then I played Castlevania 64 and it was (insert antonym for awesome); I mean that was the first Castlevania that I never played through and I don't understand how Konami could turn it out like that. Sorry, I didn't really intend to demean your post, just my opinion.
This is not only the best soundtrack ever made but also the best game (on Castlevania series) to me at least 5 songs should be at this Top.

I also find it ironic for someone to call me a "nostalgic twit" from someone who thinks SOTN is the best Castlevania out there when Aria of Sorrow surpasses it.

To shenloken: I appreciate your opinion and stand corrected, but I still do believe there is life left with the traditional linear Castlevania format. Newer Castleroids seem to focus too much on simply collecting better equipment and grinding to defeat bosses, although that seems to be changing with Order of Ecclesia. I do think they could use the idea of branching paths and bite-size levels more.

SOTN OST is one of my top 3 soundtracks of all time. Still have my SOTN game copy (Too bad someone took my game case and manual :-( )

You should've started playing it on the NES. Only then would you have a firm appreciation of the series roots. One common mistake people of your era assume is that Castlevania is all about sprawling environments. Back then it was more linear, with hidden passages and branching paths. It was also alot harder, too.
I found this game in a comic shop for like 30 bucks and picked it up on the spot. Don't know who was willing to give it up but they were certainly a bigger man than I am, one of the best. It's still a good 50 bucks in Japan <@_@)

To hell with the fact that this song gets recycled twice within the game, it's my favorite song on the OST. Listening to it makes any place I visit feel surreal and dream-like.
You know, whether or not you think SotN lived up to its praise, it had a beautiful soundtrack for its time - and even by modern standards in some cases.
