The donkey kong games on snes have to be some of the greatest platform games ever made even just for the music.

I guess you're right. Final Fantasy is the only counter-example I can think of and that one is quite debatable.

All the characters rare created for Nintendo franchises became Nintendo's property when Rare was bought. They just never wanted to use the Kremlings since.
Quite a bit the further in you go. For the GBA, they all added minigames. DKC added the photo album, DKC2 added Kerozene (they just gave you a free Kremcoin on the SNES), DKC3 added the Pacifica world and the Kroctopus boss.
Did you know there's an Aquatic Ambience remix in there too? It's a little more understated, I think, cuz it took me awhile to notice it.
3 was the worst, it was too gimmicky.
That's was the first dkc game i played too, but my favorite is the second one! Anyway, this one is one of the best vgm of the series, who deslike this?
dkc2 since it was such a huge step up on an already great game, dkc then dkcr, just didnt have the feeling the others had

DKC2 > DKC3 > DKC = DKCR But then again, I played the GBA versions, the SNES was before my time. So I don't know how they differed with the SNES versions.
my fav to this day is dkc2. there is no comparison.
One of the downer moments of the Game Boy Color port of this game was the replacement of this song. The one they use in the GBC version is bouncy and catchy but this one was mysterious and atmospheric. More my cup of tea.
I've owned and beaten all three DKC games for the SNES, and yet my favorite is also Returns. You're not alone, brother.
I still have the first DKC. It's a pretty good game. Nice music, great atmosphere.
My favourite DKC game, ah but i'm biased since it was my 1st ever video game but what a fantastic game it was. The graphics are still amazing to this day.
DKC trilogy music has no comparison. Fear Factory, Rockface Rumble, Forest Frenzy, Mining Melancholy, Pokey Pipes, even Returns has a few original tracks that I love like the on for the Lava world and the final battle

You're not weird for having DKCR as your favorite. It's probably tied with the first DKC for me. It's an amazing game with some of the best level design I've ever seen in a 2D platformer. However, I still prefer DKC's soundtrack and atmosphere.

I like this track, but it personally isn't my favorite. All things considered, though, this game has all the memorable tracks that ir can have and I need t osay that it was a damn good fun time playing it over and over again.
This was the first SNES game I played; I saw it on display at Toys R' Us as a kid and my mom bought me it and the system.
My favorite was Returns, but I'm weird like that.
Goodness I miss this game a lot. Aquatic Ambiance being my favorite, with this being my second or third favorite. I was so happy when Game Grumps played it, and I'm glad you're uploading more of the soundtrack.
My favorite DKC game was 2 but you can't go wrong with any of the 3.

Another memorable theme from Eveline Fischer. She helped define this game's atmosphere with a more tribal sound and it's part of the reason why I actually prefer this game over its two sequels on the SNES. The fact that it's the first one I played is probably another big reason why I find this game to be the most memorable. It also has my favorite track in the series (Aquatic Ambiance). Hearing a remix of Forest Frenzy in DKCR was such a nice surprise.
