8 Years later, and I'm still listening to this song every once in a while; your playlist of 2012 [specifically this song] is the reason I started my Video Game Music playlist. You're still my main source of video game music. Thank you for putting up with all that Copyright situation you went through years ago, and continuing on. (At least I'm pretty sure that was you. Lol)
Mass Effect as a whole, best game I've ever played. Can't wait for the new one. Even an HD remake would be awesome.
The feels. Ending aside, I loved this game.
the ending orginally was bad until they made extended cut. now the ending is awesome. fantastic trilogy.

There's still a lot to like this in game even if the ending sucks. I even saw it on a list overhated games by someone that hates cover mechanics in 3rd person shooters.
I'm still angry they didn't use the Indoctrination Theory. I mean, fans of the game created far better, more interesting and sequel building ending (IMO to all three of course) and they just ignored it... It just seems to me like Bioware got lazy.
One of the saddest game themes to me :'( perfectly set the mood for Shepard though.
Jack Wall didn't come back for ME3. So yes ME3 Soundtrack was very different but still good IMO. They brought back the same composers from the DLC's to do much of the tracks as with Hulick did return (which is interesting in-itself) since he said he wasn't when heard Jack Wall wasn't returning
not a fan of this track. Just me though. The sound of this track gets very loud and becomes disturbing (lol similar to the ME3 ending) I think ME2 had a good soundtrack. I don't think it strayed from it. The reprise of "charting worlds and TIM Theme" were very good. The Long Walk and Suicide Mission was very very well done IMO the best of Jack Wall. You should have more ME Tracks - Fatal Confrontation, The Wards, TIM Theme, Spectre Intro, Suicide Mission, Leaving Earth, Long Walk etc...

Both this series and MGS are worth playing should you ever have the chance. They are both very very good game series, at least imo, and although the ending to ME3 was quite underwhelming, the journey itself to the end was something priceless to see how all the things you made happen worked together right in front of your eyes. Go buy ME if you like Action/RPGs and MGS if you like Stealth-Action.
Wow, what a surprisingly nice classical and melancholic theme for an FPS... You know, I usually hear RPG fans hating Halo and Call of Duty, but I've heard some nice things about this series and Metal Gear Solid, so... I'm kind of wondering what it's like... ~Matthew
This is one of the cases where it is truly all about the journey - not sure why they had to utterly screw up the ending though ... no excuse for that .... haven't played 3 yet, but have finally played 1 (PS3, so really had to wait for it) - 1 and 2 are really good (well 1 just for the story), will play 3 at some point and be well ready to ignore the ending.
Hum, didn't you forget to mention in the description that the game is also on PC ? Anyway, what a music, and what a trilogy ... <3

I think the change was in part due to emotional manipulation. ME 2 & 3 really push the emotional attachment you have to the story, and the use of the piano makes the events all the more powerful, such as the beginning of ME3 when you flee earth and see the reapers invading, all to that real tearjerker piano piece.
This track is certainly beautiful and has that "we finally did it" vibe to it. Though I think I prefer its sister track, "Leaving Earth". Something about the big Reaper "BWAAAAAM" just has this emotional and gripping feeling of despair that gives me goosebumps.
IDK man that patch did nothing for me, my decisions I made throughout the game didn't matter much tocahnge the ending, oh well. The Multiplayer is fun as hell though.

A buddy got me the trilogy set for ps3 so I am stoked to go through the whole story finally. I never finished the first one but did beat the second and even started a second playthrough and picked up the shadow broker dlc and such. Number 2 was great but I found myself falling asleep while scanning planets, I would literally wake up with the controller in my hand and the planet spinning. I loved it.

Great soundtrack although my favorite song is "Mars", sounds as if its straight out of Mass Effect 1. Also really enjoyed ME3 as well, top 5 for me.
I never played ME3 and I never completed the 1st or 2nd, but I really like the soundtracks. I like how they have that one reoccurring melody (3 sets of notes) that appear in this song and I think it's in the theme as well. I know I've heard it before.
This whole series had great music, but I enjoyed ME1's score the most. As for the ME3 ending, I liked what happened, but it could have been better. I don't get all the hate for the ENTIRE game just because people didn't like the ending. It was a very good game.
I can explain why ME3 had different music - they got rid of Jack Wall who worked on the soundtrack for ME1 and ME2 and brought in Clint Mansell (who is responsible for the sombre piano pieces in ME3).
I actually prefer the Extended Cut version of this track since it ends on a more optimistic note instead of the panicky abrupt end of the original. Still, just like ME3 pre-Extended Cut, the 90% of it before the end is awesome :).
I may have an answer for that. At least, speculation. I believe ME 2&3 had different music because of the leash Bioware was tethered to after their purchase by EA. EA as a publisher ruins games. Unfortunately the developers have to listen to a degree of what the publishers say. ME 2&3 are definitely way more action than rpg and I'm willing to bet that EA wasn't happy with the soundtrack and wanted something more military sounding because Call of Duty = $
ME3's ending and Dragon Age 2 made me lose all faith in Bioware.
I enjoyed the game & while the ending disappointed me, it didn't cause me to rage that much. Namely because if we really wanted to complain about choice not mattering, that complaint needs to be addressed to the whole game. Saved the Rachni race? They return. Killed the rachni queen & made them all go extinct? They're back anyway. Recruited Legion? The geth help out. Legion dead? A clone appears & the geth help out. Saved Malin's research? Get cure. Destroyed Malin's research? Get cure anyway.
Interesting the sad part is I now think I know what it is.
@IdiotJake It's because of the sudden halt of the game, the abandonment of previous themes, in return for a lazy ending that DOES NOT truly reflect past choices made in previous games. They left so many holes that it actually boggled the mind. There was no closure on the characters. There was no end , it just merely stopped.
No, thanks to the single track. There's maybe another one that I'd choose. Believe it or not, I'll have the hardest time with my #1 game!

I loved the original ending in mass effect 3. i choose to fuse organics and synthetics together. but then along came the unpleased fans who had to get that patched out of it >:( seriously!? you took a good ending but beacuse it was 3 choices you had to get all pissed. i agree it shouldve been patched so we see more of what our choices did for the world. but as i can see all the friggen patch did was remove my favourite choice! the first time i saw the ending i cried. now you all killed it
I agree, the ending made me really sad because Bioware said it would not be A B or C, and thats literally what it was! still a great series, i just wish it could have satisfied me in the end. in my mind, i want to believe the indoctrination theory is the real ending lol
This song is so powerful. Gives me chills... It's also not very hard to play on piano. That's always a good thing.
The ending disappointed me first because the choices they give you are basically straight out of Deus Ex, and secondly (mainly) after I checked the internet and realized all the endings were basically the same. The patch did make it better though. As for the soundtrack, the first Mass Effect has by far my favorite music with its fitting eletronic spacey synths. No idea why ME2&3 strayed away from that.
Funny how my favorite ME3 theme plays during my least favorite part of the game, the ending. Even if the ending was disappointing, I don't think the backlash the whole game received is fair. The whole trilogy is one of my favorite journeys video games have ever offered me. An ending that actually completely satisfies me, be in it games or movies, is extremely rare.
