Thing was, I didn't realize this until later, but the weird video in the background of the menu is actually a close-up of the nuclei of a Metroid.
Greatest. Menu. Music. Ever. Druids? Flippin druids humming in the background during the menu? Yeah, this is about to be epic! Menu music is not supposed to sound this amazing, first time I heard this, goosebumps everywhere! Retro Studios hit the nail on the head with this theme that set the pace and the tone for every piece of music in Metroid Prime that followed. Perfect.

+amh7912 I gotta boot up the Wii U and put it on and see, if I remember correctly the 3 games were separated in the Select screen so when you boot up Prime, Prime II and Corruption it takes you to the same exact menu's we saw on the original GameCube releases. I could be wrong but I'll try and check today and let you know

probably because of the light/dark world bullshit and how you always take damage in the dark world. and ammunition.. god, i hated that so much. never beat prime 2, but loved prime 1. still have prime 1 lying around somewhere..

I love this tune. I actually find it soothing and calming to the point that I listen to this for hours at a time on occasion. (my mind is a very chaotic place.) :)
the Metroid prime games are why virtually anybody these days cares about Metroid. 3d is far more immersive than 2d. And besides, Nintendo already has enough 2d sidescrolling games

This was the game that made me buy a Gamecube.
This theme took me to a whole other world when I first heard it. Intimidating wouldn't even begin to describe the feeling I had in my gut.
Seeing this video inspired me to start Metroid Prime again so I put the game in my Wii and...got an error message. Feels bad, man...
Which is a travesty, considering how amazing Zero Mission was as a game. I'd love to see a big console incarnation of a 2D Metroid on today's hardware.

such a great trilogy. even though i played it in the order of 2,1,3 i still don't remember too much about 3 or a lot that stood out about it. 1 & 2 were the bread and butter by far. maybe that makes 3 the plate? :S
Has it really been 10 years since this came out already??? Unreal. Time flies. I still remember booting this game up for the first time. The menu music chilled me to the core. One of my all time favorite games.
The problem with Other M isn't that Nintendo is slipping, so much as it's that Nintendo never understood how Retro used newer, more innovative exploration elements to create a more atmospheric, interesting, rewarding, exploration-leading-to-discovery, grandiose title. I wouldn't blame corporate greed so much as Yoshio Sakamoto's lack of understanding towards his own series. (Not that corporate greed isn't prevelant. See also Mass Effect 3 and any Capcom release after RE4's GCN release)
Sadly corporate greed such as EA and Activision set in to monetize the gaming industry making it stagnate. Nintendo is slipping, Other M has no soundtrack and was mediocre overall, what a black sheep of the Metroid franchise.
When I started playing Metroid Prime, this song came on and gave me chills.
I'd be interested in any game that picks up the timeline AFTER Metroid Fusion, but a new 2D game would be good as well :)
After Other M I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a complete franchise reboot for Metroid. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking.
Man, hard to believe Metroid Prime was 10 freaking years ago. It sure doesn't feel that old. And the visor effects are STILL impressive.

Except DKCR was a huge disappointment and felt much more like a Mario game than anything related to Donkey Kong. It was really only DKC in name.
Metroid prime main menu was awesome, one of the better menu title for any games for me, behind some others like Metal gear solid 4 (HEY, NOT EVEN ONE SONG FROM MGS 4??? Shame on you ;) ) and others games.
2D, 3D, I don't care. Just give us a new Metroid game that's better than Other M already.

Really? Given the fantastic story-telling in Metroid Prime, I feel Retro can do more with a 3D game than any company could do with a 2D game. Sure, the whole "throwback" thing is nice, but Metroid has evolved far beyond that, and as a whole, would only be downgraded by such.
It would be almost impossible to top Super Metroid though, it's still one of the most perfect 2D games ever made.
Fuck. Now I really need to do my annual holidays replay of the trilogy...
I regret not getting the Trilogy pack when it was cheap... but at least I have the game on Gamecube.

Metroid Prime came out ten years ago? It feels as if it is a recent game... then again, all Gamecube games feel like that. I still havn't completed this game. I came to the very last phase of the last boss, but failed at it a few times, then I kinda stopped playing it. This, and Secret of Mana are two games that I swear I have to complete one day. Thanks for uploading this.
I'd be less interested in a Retro developed fourth Metroid Prime, and more interested in a Retro developed 2D Metroid. Donkey Kong Country Returns showed that they can make magnificent level designs in a 2D game. Heck, it's been nearly a decade since the last 2D Metroid game, not counting Zero Mission (a remake).
I love the Metroid sound effect.
i really hope they revive the Metroid Prime series, i bought the trilogy recently, and i love the games, i remember when i bought metroid prime on a whim, just because i had played metroid and super metroid back int he day, i though, why not, its now one of my favorite gameing series ever, no small part due to the soundtrack, all the music is amazing and SO unique, its very easy to hear music from the metroid prime series the know without a doubt that its from it :P thanks for some nostalgia :P

I don't remember the last time I uploaded two tracks from the same game so closely together, but Metroid Prime launched exactly 10 years ago so I couldn't pass that up. It makes me realise how video games have been evolving very slowly, especially when you compare the 1992-2002 jump to the 2002-2012 one. I'd be willing to spend quite the sum for a Metroid Prime 4 on the Wii U made by Retro.
