This theme is about as iconic to me as pretty much any theme in the Zelda series. When I played Ocarina back in the day, I had no idea it wasn't the first version of that theme. Thank goodness I know better now!

I prefer the Kakariko Village themes from both OoT and TP, but this is really nostalgic too.

For some reason, this also plays in Link's House (at least in the GBA remake).
Is it just me or is there some charm about 2D Zelda games... I much prefer them to any 3D Zelda game. As of now at least.

I played Ocarina first and couldn't believe the theme was from Link to the Past, it seemed so Ocarina-esque to me

Chickens definitely attack you in A Link to the Past :S I remember them swarming from all sides of the screen as a kid, Even strangely so when inside a house and you find a chicken under a pot, they'll still fly INTO the house. XD
Maybe not in kakariko but there is a place where chickens will attack you.

I never got the chance to beat it, got stuck in the Dark World. But yet is still one of the best games I've ever played. You just didn't see many games of this quality back in the day.

I really love Koji Kondo's ability to compose the simplest of songs, yet make them absolutely timeless. Love this : )

Over rated? Ridiculous. Lttp and oot deserve all their kudos. Anyone arguing otherwise either didn't play them when they came out, yes context matters, or is being a troll.

A very beautiful song. But unfortunately you never here it again after you encounter the dark world.
Spirit Tracks was an unneccessary re-tread, in my opinon. Phantom Hourglass was a very cool game that utilises the stylus perfectly. It also had amazing charm and atmosphere, although not quite as great as Wind Waker in that regard. It's not a 2D Zelda game though, it's basically its own style of the series.
It only sounds clustered because of the way I have to phrase it to get the idea across. Honestly, MM could be made out to be just as clustered. What I'm asking is basically as most would translate "2D OoT". Much simpler, yes?

This is probably the first VGM that to define my childhood, that and Donkey Kong Country's Jungle Swing, probably the most influential themes of my childhood
Atmosphere of OoT, with more puzzles like the 3D games, but a 2D game stylized like LttP, with optional up to 4 players, tons of dungeons(not just the usual 4-8, talking 10-16), tons of items(like LttP or the N64 games), and a massive world to explore, and an epic story(like LttP, OoT, or Skyward Sword) This would make for hands down the greatest Zelda.

Agreed. Although WW is my fav, I think Link to the Past, OOT, and the first Zelda are the best ones.

They did say a rework of LttP was in the works for the 3DS. I'm hoping for the same control scheme as the original and not the stylus crap of PH and ST.
Phantom Hourglass was actually my first Legend of Zelda game .3. I actually thought it was quite good... But maybe that's only 'cause I've never played other LoZ games to compare it to. Man, if I thought PH was good, I'm gonna love the other LoZ games...

I honestly think A Link to the Past is among the top 3 Zelda Games(Ocarina of Time and WindWaker being the other two). At this point I don't even bother comparing the new 2D offerings to it; they just can't stand up to it's glory.
Just got done replaying MInish Cap for GBA, amazing game not quite as good as A Link To The Past, but close.
And Instantly I hear Brand0 in my head.
I found Spirit Tracks to be a much better game, though still full of flaws. I'd go with that one. If you don't like ST, then don't bother with Phantom Hourglass.
I don't know why Zelda music makes me so misty-eyed and nostalgic, because I've only ever played OoT. Guess it's just beautiful music.

Probably one of the most known village theme in a video game. The version in Ocarina of Time is just as peaceful. I really miss playing new 2D Zelda games, especially since the DS iterations left such a bad taste in my mouth. I'd pay a lot of money to play a brand new 2D Zelda game with HD graphics that look as amazing as games like the upcoming Rayman Legends for the Wii U.
