This place STILL creeps me out. Ruby/Sapphire were really the peak of the Pokemon franchise so far as I'm concerned -- but I'm still pissed that I cant transfer my gen I-II Pokemon forward!!!!

I did just look it up, and technically this is both BGM and VGM. BGM means background music, and VGM means video game music. This is both.

Check out the Safari Zone Gate song from Soul Silver. That song stuck out the most for me long with the Route 26 theme.
I'm the same. 3rd Generation was as far as I got. My favourite song out of that generation was probably LilyCove City. It actually slightly creeps me out and sounds a little distorted at parts but then it sounds really happy and seaside-y
Hey Mr. SupraDarky if you don't mind me asking, why did you stop playing the Pokemon games? just too stale after a while or did you grow up and just loose interest... either way would you be interested in picking up the games again?
first pokemon game i can remember playing clearly was ruby, got it for the gameboy advance sp when i was 7 for christmas and this song never got old haha..my cousin who i was very close wit had sapphire and then we both got emerald..loved generation 3<3

Ah, that's a shame. Imo the series has produced so many good games, both old and new. I thought Diamond & Pearl were awesome, Platinum improved on them even more, HeartGold & SoulSilver were brilliant remakes and still completely new at the same time, and Black & White I'm currently playing through and it's amazing so far. I'm really looking forward to Black & White 2. Emerald is still perhaps my favourite game, but one thing all Pokémon games have in common is - they all have amazing music. <3
D/P is kinda good, though probably the least of the series. B/W is very good, albeit with flaws but still really re-invigorates the vibe of the first one. Can't say if B/W2 is gonna be worth it though, too little info and the info that is available doesn't seem too promising...

I think that 5th gen is great to be honest. You should play it.
RSE really has an underrated soundtrack. You should also put The Abandoned Ship on the list. Favorite track from this game. There are also some amazing remixes of it. Oh, and play Pokémon Black/White. D/P/P were great games, but BW's way better.
You should give Platinum a try. In my opinion the best Pokemon game.

Lavender town not city. Anyway nice atmospheric tune.
This track stood out when I got to Mt. Pyre, in the same way that Lavender City did in the first Pokemon. Not as creepily memorable as Lavender, but I still like this theme's sadder tone. I haven't played a Pokemon game since this one.
