The story is definitely still dark, but the settings you visit are sometimes bright and colorful. Overall a pretty solid game, and (hopefully) a fitting conclusion to the Max Payne series.
One review I saw on the Angry Joe Show for #3 was that it is a good game that keeps what made its predecessors good, the main problem you'll have is that you're going to die, a lot, since "all it takes is one bullet in the right place" to kill you.
I just noticed, the game is called The Fall Of Max Payne, and this song is by Poets Of The Fall. Coincidence, or intentional on Rockstar's part?
It's kinda like the years of popping pills and drinking have finally caught up with Max in the newest one. It's much more hyperactive and disorienting, much less noir(though it is still there). In my honest opinion, it's a much better, grown up game than the first two with the same excellent gameplay. Also the soundtrack is incredible. It's by HEALTH and they create a beautiful atmosphere.
Didn't like the singing.
Just finished #3 and it is a great game. Som elements of the first 2 are lost but it is an incredible game
Lemme tell you about Max Payne 3. It is a wonderful game. Its story is phenomenal, the music is great, and Max's monologue-ing is still there, and it entertained me the entire time. Even the MP is good, though I'm not a huge fan of it. Overall, it's a great game, and you should get it SupraDarky. Unless you already did. Then this comment was pointless.

cause its the same people who sang that song. The band Poets of the Fall has made loads of songs for Remedy. You should listen to their music. It really good!

Same band: Poets of the Fall.
It's very VERY cinematic and filled with a lot of hollywood-esque over the top action and cutscenes. If you'd get annoyed by the game taking the control from you a lot; sometimes not even trusting the player to do marginal tasks like getting to a door across the room, yet alone opening it, or getting up a set of stairs, you should really test it somehow before buying it. It can get a bit irritating, but I personally really enjoyed it. And the shooting and gameplay feel really good and satisfying
Max Payne 3 is really really good, but also pretty different from the two previous games. It's definitely worth a buy, but don't expect Max Payne 2.5. The soundtrack is also pretty damn great, I thought.
To prepare for Max Payne 3, I decided to get Max Payne 2 and finally replay it after so many years... Getting to this song on the credits just filled me with so much nostalgia.. I absolutely love Poets of the Fall, they do a fantastic job with these songs.

Max Payne 3 have a good gameplay and action scene. But it's lack of theme and background story. MP 1 and 2 based heavily on Max's personal story. But in MP3 Max just standing there showing off his gunplay and get drunk. He was not even the main point of the problem there. Just Max Payne in some GTA gangster shootout scenario.
There, you've said you like Poets of the Fall. You now have no reason not to post all their songs from Alan Wake.
I like Poets of the Fall, but I kinda don't like this song. They have much better ones, IMO.
That's why I feel like the NJ levels were the best in the game, I wonder if Rockstar ever intended the full game to be in NJ but opted instead to move the location later in development.
I found the third entry to be a pretty damn good shooter in its own rights. The gameplay is sharp, intense and downright amazing to play through. It looks fantastic and the physics make for movie-like shootouts. Its story is less memorable than the previous entries with an unremarkable supporting cast and a thin plotline that made Max seem like a unimportant character to the scenario at hand. Definitely an action game worth going through at least once.
The fact that this song was one of the reasons why I was even introduced to the amazing Poets of the Fall makes it all the more fantastic, and to top it off, its really well done and the vocals are awesome :D
It's fun in terms of the gameplay, but it lacks the Noir feeling of the first two. The characters are also really not very good, except for Max. I'd say play it if you can rent it or get it really cheap in a year, but I wouldn't be in a rush to get your hands on it.
I think 3 was brilliant. The gameplay was nice, even if I was disappointed I could no longer carry an entire arsenal by myself at all times. :P Story-wise, it was pretty solid. It really showcased how badly all the stuff he's been through affected Max, which I thought was a nice realistic touch. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but it's definitely worth the buy.

Well, character wise, Max was technically finished in Max Payne 2. Though 3 brings the series back, they don't really do much with it outside of gameplay innovations. So, 3 had great gameplay, but story was mostly fluff. Also, Max seemed to step so much backward after 2 it made him so much harder to like in the game.
And to think twenty years ago they were still making games with chiptunes.

Three pretty much played like the first two, they nailed Max's characterization as well - the only real problems I had with it were a slight overabundance of cutscenes and the actual narrative itself is only okay once you strip away the flavor that Max's narration adds to it
I haven't played 1 and 2 (I intend to when the Steam Summer Sale rolls around) but I thought 3 was excellent.
I played and enjoyed the first 2 games in this series, I haven't played 3 yet. Quite a unique videogame series thanks in part to its story and presentation. How's 3 for those who played it? I watched some videos and admit I'm a bit skeptical. Anyways, I find this vocal track represents this series' mood really well. Remedy handed the lyrics to Poets of the Fall, a newly found band at the time, and they made a song out of it.
