@SomaSaysMeep Everyone's always "Symphony of the Night this" and "Symphony of the Night that" But it all honesty, I don't really understand why. It's one of my favorite games in the series, and I love it. But it still confuses me a bit: I know that a lot of people praise it for being so fast paced. Well, I feel like it's a bit.........TOO fast paced. Bosses end too quickly, and they're usually pretty lame (except for Succubus, Galamoth, and Olrox). The game is just too easy, and the Inverted Castle?: SssssssssssssssTUPID. I'm sorry, but it just feels repetitive going through the same castle again. I know Portrait of Ruin (no clue why people hate that game so much) uses pallete swaps from previous areas, but the atmosphere and music feels completely different. BUTT: I'm not saying Symphony of the Night is bad. It's awesome. Go watch SomecallmeJohnnie's review and you'll see why. I just think that when it comes to the Metroidvania games, Dawn of Sorrow, Aria of Sorrow, and especially Portrait of Ruin are better. SO.......what did we learn from this short rant/mini-review? A. Castlevania is underrated. B. I was incredibly bored while making this comment.

This and the Dawn of Sorrow clock tower theme are amazing.

I never understood what drew me to this theme. Maybe it was because I had to hear it so damned often just to get the Lightning Doll soul.
I also liked Dawn of Sorrow's art style. I prefer it over the dark and realistic look of the Lords of Shadows games. I can see why people like the darker artstyle used in other games more, but anime just works for me.
am i the only that liked dawn of sorrows art style equally jesus christ stop bitching its still a VERY well done sequel and besides i thought Yoko looked better in the new art style
I miss the days when Castlevania didn't have anime-style art. I always appreciated the fantasy-style art.
The Retro Studios are part of Nintendo, they are the elite of the programmers of Nintendo. Also there are rumors that the Retro Studios are on making a Metroid Game mayby for Wii U but the 3DS could also need one.
LOL, that doesn't fill the empty void at ALL we're talking about a completely 2D experience that is as good as its predecessors (something Other M couldn't pull off unfortunately)

Not only do Konami need to make a new metroid-alike Castlevania game, Nintendo need to make a new 2D Metroid game!
You must be reading my mind lately, SupraDarky. I've been learning how to play this and the Arena theme on guitar and having a blast. Put together, the three GBA Castlevanias boast some of the Konami team's greatest musical output. While a lot of people feel obligated to harp on the limitations of the hardware, I think it's important to look past that and recognize that the compositions themselves are simply awesome and very well-arranged.

This was the first Metroidvania I'd played, and it got me into that style of gameplay. Regrettably my first Castlevania game was Castlevania 64.

Y'know, this is prob'ly the least intense of all ClockTower Castlevania themes.
The Underground Reservoir theme in this game is also a work of genius.

Played through AoS like 2 weeks ago, and it's rare for me to finish a game and say ''Damn, x song was amazing!'' But when I finished it, this song really stood out as an awesome track, thanks SupraDarky. :D
Ever since Majora's Mask, I've had this soft spot for clock towers...
i was never a Huge castlevania fan until THIS game, my god it's a masterpiece, this was one of those games that shaped my love for video games, but keep in mind the other ones are amazing, this is just my preference because of my childhood fondness

Yeah, I didn't like Dawn of Sorrow much either because of its art direction, and I absolutely loved Aria of Sorrow. I replay Aria every few years, I like it more than SotN personally.
These games incredible. I really wish they abandonned the lords of shadow theme they are using right now. I hope the new 3DS game coming out is good at least, but I will always prefer the classic Castlevanias as well as the Metroidvanias.
First, because I know some other scrublet wants it instead of me. This was an odd game, but I enjoyed it.
Here I was hoping that IGA would get to keep making Metroidvanias on the handhelds, looks like I was unfortunately wrong. No more Michiru Yamane as well which is a travesty. With these games, I'd actually stop and listen to the music when I entered a new area because I knew there was a good chance it would be awesome. There's also Kojima, what a great artist she is. Look at this cover, then look at the art for Dawn of Sorrow without Kojima, I was very disapointed back then.
I think it's time you go and look up Bloodstained. May your itch for a true Metroidvania be answered!
