The game is fun but then a few years ago I found the Shadows of the Empire book at the library. It is a good book and you should read it if you get the chance. Though I will say this that the junkyard train level doesn't happen in the book. Makes me wonder where they got that level from then.

After around 10 or more years of not playing the Nintendo 64 and I defeated this level today.

@Lord Fendleberry: Episode I: Pod Racer also had real music. Unfortunately, both games’ music were heavily compressed and shortened, but I liked them still far more than say the digital score in Rogue Squadron. Factor 5 was praised for their music technology for the N64 and later Game Cube games, but I wasn’t impressed with their synthy soundtracks—especially the odd combined real John Williams OST with synthetic parts in the Rogue Leader games. The only other games I can think of that had (heavily compressed) real music were WipeOut 64 (with loading times as a result) and Killer Instinct Gold.

Remember how hard it was to put in that damned cheat? Hold like all the buttons at once and hold the joystick left forever... then right forever... I tried using my chin and everything. There was no easy way to do it... Swoop level rocked though!

Man, I owned this game on the N64 back in the day and loved it! Yet I had completely forgotten about this awesome Track, which isn't from the movies but was composed just for this game. The level of quality abolutely blows my mind even now, this is just as good as the John Williams score!

This game fucking scared me as an 8 year old. I didn't really own this game, I think I played it at my friends, but I still remember this fucking beast of a tune!
I hate Star Wars games with a passion. The only Star Wars game I ever liked was Lego Star Wars.

Oh yeah, I remember reading somewhere that LucasArts made Shadows of the Empire as a spiritual successor to the Super Star Wars games on SNES. That's why the cutscenes are in similar fashion.
This was one of the best Star Wars games. Too bad the controls feel a little akward now.
Back in 1996, this game got me into Star Wars just in time to be really upset when Lucas started ruining it in 1997.

I saw my friend playing this game not too long ago. I hadn't seen it in at least 10 years. The graphics made my eyes bleed. This game made me realize that SNES era games stand the test of time way better than early 3D games like this... I can't believe I thought these graphics were good at one point.
anybody else do the wampa stampa ? or become the x-wing in the last level? Chasing down all of the silver rebel symbols was fun too.

One of the most memorable, drawn-out, frustrating yet edge-of-my-seat boss battles I've ever done was the one with IG88 in this game. That punk could take a licking and keep on ticking!
George Lucas should stop making Clone Wars cartoons enough is enough, you should make a Shadow of the Empire movie or series.
Fair enough, but you also never said anything about consoles, just if they could sell outside of movie-specific games.

I remember this game. I remember my dad rented it for me one time. I remember it was hard as hell. I remember I kept dying over and over and over and over against some annoying alien fuckers. I remember that they could teleport and shoot some kind of sparkling beam.
Uh, no. Not even close. There had been plenty of Star Wars licensed games that didn't directly follow the movies out for years and years before this game. Games like Dark Forces, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault, etc...

I just played through this game again 2 years ago, and this theme really stuck out to me. Definitely the best theme in the game. Also, this version you uploaded is VERY different from the in-game version. In-game, the first 45 seconds just loop over and over again. The rest of this song from :45-1:35 doesn't appear in the game.
aww i thought it was gonna be the N64 version of the song... anyway, I absolutely love this song and this was amongst the first N64 games I played, and I love it!
I would take a movie version of SotE over the prequels any day.
This is fantastic. Never heard of the game, though. Guess I had a deprived childhood :P
I remember SotE awesome game back when it came out. The Hoth battle gave me goose bumps and the fight with Boba Fett left a good memory. Sadly the gameplay was so-so in 1996 standards and god awful in 2012 standards. I think they should released the game in a HD remake. Also without this game you'd never have any newer star wars games likes SWTOR, Knights of the Old Republic, or Jedi knight games. It was a test for Lucas to see if the SW games could sell outside the movie base games.
Oh man, this game was hard an scary as hell back when I played it. I always got so confused during the levels, an scared that something would pop out an just instantly kill me. Good music though.

I remember some of the bosses in this game being no laughing matter.. Namely that droid toward the end. I also remember shooting a Wampa 50+ times before it fell over. Good times, though.
This was my first Nintendo 64 game as well, and let me say that this was an amazing game. It controlled like hell, but it was still awesome. ;D

Since he uploaded a n64 game, I just realized he has nothing from Jet Force Gemini, one of my favorites from the system. And I also played this game a lot.
I was surprised to see SotE music. One of my first N64 games too, and I have fond memories of it, but unfortunately it hasn't aged well. I can only pick this up again with nostalgia goggles, and even then it's frustrating to play these days. It's probably a bit better on PC though.
It's probably blocked because it infringes the 1982 epic, Turkish Star Wars. :P
This and Super Mario 64 were the first N64 games I got. I pretty much explored every nook and cranny of those games back then. I really liked Shadows of the Empire, I remember being completely absorbed in it. This theme was super memorable too. Also, if you're watching this video, it means you're probably not in Europe as this video is blocked in most of its countries. ;P
