that explains why it sounded strangely familiar. good game there, a gem lost in the desert.

Actually, AweStrikerNova, it's name is The Dirge of the Divine Trinity. Paved with Good Intentions is the Lab 8 stage theme.

2:20 to 2:42 I like this sound. It really makes it sound like a classic arcade fighter.

I love this song, it's so epic and gothic - very reminiscent of the old Castlevania games. Yamane's style is definitive in this song. Thanks for posting this song.
I think SFIII had a great soundtrack. It was pretty different for its time, and most of the tunes were pretty memorable.
The song has a name, actually: "Paved with Good Intentions".
Really nice! The beginning reminds me a little of Lavos' Theme from Chrono Trigger.

Yay, Skullgirls recognition! Not too many of the songs are too memorable in this theme. I somewhat like the final boss/intro theme along with Maplecrest, as I mentioned a while back. Symphony of the Night really was something, though.
You didn't like the credits theme or Marie's theme, Supra? Thought those were the best on the OST, imo ...
I'd agree. Techno, dubstep, rock, they work a lot of times with fighting games but I enjoy some variety and it gets old to me when a company repeatedly uses such melodies for their fighting games. And as such, it makes it feel as though Capcom's been hitting generic strands lately, not releasing games because they want to but because it'll make money. It's one reason I love platformers and RPGs so much, varied soundtracks.
Sounds like a Paper Mario battletheme to me. At least at first.
Uh, SupraDarky, I believe that according to the developers, they also used other music besides Yamane's....of course, I'm not so sure which ones were hers entirely. Thanks for posting this one up, though.

Jazz can't work with a fighting game. Can't stand people who say that about MVC2. And even moreso when people say it about this game, the one where almost no other vibe would fit the game quite as perfectly.

The game is INCREDIBLY fun, the OST great and the artwork amazing. Only issues I have are some of the same issues I had with MVC2 due to overlapping mechanics. But still an awesome game and I actually enjoy it more than MVC2.
Yamane's style is immediately recognizable in this track. This could fit right in one of the portable Metroidvanias for the DS, especially the part at 1:45. I must say though, apart from a couple tracks like this one, I was mostly disapointed by this game's soundtrack. Being composed by Yamane, I was expecting something more memorable. I personally find she reached her masterful prime with SotN.
Have you heard the theme for Big Band's stage? It's called Unfinished Business and it's jazzy as hell
